3. I can't vote in your poll
I honestly believe that if a Democrat does not win in 2004, there will be no election in 2008.

5. That's exactly why I voted for John Kleeb.
He is too young, but is a smart guy.

11. Okay, I voted for him too
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 10:24 PM by Walt Starr
since he stands exactly as much of a chance of being the nominee as we do of actually having elections in 2008 should the chimp be reselected.

13. Exactly, Walt.
And John is the most progressive of the four named. I agree with the 2008 elections, also figure the 2004 will be stolen again.

15. Buy guns, dehydrated camping food, and bottled water
Serves a couple of purposes, too. Should there be a natural disaster there will be no National Guard to guard against looters (they're all deployed overseas now), so the guns protect your property and you have some ood and water.

If the (inevitable if the Chimp steals another election) civil war happens...

17. I was looking at guns yesterday.
Look, but don't touch. I am not sure if I am ready for the civil war yet.

18. I'll never be ready
but if he outright steals a second election, you can bet there will be one.

Buy shotguns. They don't require a lot of practice to be lethal with, the shells are easy to reload, and they are the perfect home security gun.

You have to be prepared for a natural disaster at any rate because there will be no National Guard to protect you from looters during one. Your protection in a natural disaster is up to you and your neighbors.

19. Did you have lunch with Charlton Heston?
We ran a DU poll a while ago. I believe a majority has or had a gun. Most of us were pro-gun. Strange huh.

22. I dunno
I grew up with guns and hendled them extensively my entire life.

I've always been a strict constitutionalist. I don't mind sensible gun regulation. I just mind taking away all guns.

38. Why do so many survivalists think there will be looters?
A little off-topic, but if you enjoy digressions ...

I had a close friend who swung to the hard right, bought into Y2k paranoia, and moved to a secluded rural area. He was convinced that as soon as the vast millions of inner-city Welfare Queens and Kings missed their first check and couldn't buy crack, cheap booze and filet mignon, they would riot and kill all the whites.

There may be a few lootings, but in every widespread social breakdown that's happened in the past couple of hundred years, looting was scattered and sporadic. Generally, people coping with the end of their world get depressed and mope around. Suicide is also common.

The riots in the 60s, and in South Central L.A. after the King verdict don't count. They weren't widespread, and they were actually very small compared to, say, the draft riots of WWI.

You may need the shotgun for the wingnuts and rogue Gummint agents. For looters and people who are all freaked out, all you need is a secure little hidey-hole and a big sign saying "QUARANTINED (Influenza B)". They won't kill you for having the flu, but they will steeer clear.

And chances are that you won't even need that.

But if you do buy some firearms to prepare for the bushreich, make sure to get gun training. The NRA has very good gun training programs. Hold your nose and sign up for one. Then vote to make a liberal RKBAer its next president.

4. The case for John Kleeb
He is a progressive democrat. He is thoughtfull. He stays out of the candidate threads unless it has to do with DK's potential partners. Sounds good to me.

16. 2004 Is Our Last Chance
If Bush* is still in power and they even bother tohave elections in 2008,
they will be fully Dieboldized and just like the "elections" Saddam
held in Iraq or those in the former Soviet Union,
with the ruling party getting 99% of the "vote".
More likely they will have dropped the facade of democracy by then.

That's only if we keep the age requirement at 35.

Of course, the 2024 election would also be a possibility.

You know what they say -- you're as old as you feel.
