Help me make a party tape (Thats what old people called songlists) |
|
We used to have these things called casettes. We'd drive around in our model Ts and listen to tapes, and making the tape used to take three times as long as listening to it, so you would be sick to death of the songs by the time you got the tape made.
But anyway, I am trying to think up a list of the worlds greatest summer beach party rock and roll pop power-pop songs ever. And I cannot think, because once you hit 40 your brain gets full and cannot take in new information unless it jettisons the old to make some space, and the first thing to go is music; you still love music, you still know the songs you like, but you are completely incapable of remembering the names of songs or groups or individual group members anymore (except the ones you learned before the age of 17). Its eery, its really strange, every song is now "that song, you know the one, it goes da da dadada dee dee."
So, I would welcome suggestions. I will remember the songs after I see them.

Nothing better than riding around town in the summer with my daughter with the windows rolled down yelling along at the top of our lungs. :hi:
"Why do you build me up, Buttercup baby, just to let me down...and mess me around...."

2. Yes, the "Something About Mary" ending was fun too. |
|
And I already have a lot of Jonathan Richman.
Noone else?
Please, you've got an old fart with a failing memory here who needs a little help.
