Why are so many Newbies asking about Freepers in their first posts?

Being a fringe board, most folks have never heard of them. Unfortunately, the same can be said for us.

Once you visit FR and see the "Morans" in action protesting, etc. You know the mentality completely. Lots of folks who've never been to FR are total freepers.

8. I didn't know what a freeper was when I was first reading through the

boards. After a while I assumed that it was the reichwing black people-lynching sheets-wearing televangelist-watching types. Some people made a correlation between freerepublic and freepers later on.

14. When I first got on here...

...I said something bad about Gore and got called a Freeper. I just about left but decided that one idiot didn't speak for the whole group.

But in any case, people should be a little more tolerant around here.
