there are different time zones in the United States and this means that TV shows are on at different times? For example, if West Wing is on at 7:00 CDT in Iowa, it is another 3 hours before people in Los Angeles see it, at 8:00 PST.

of West Wing. There's only 2 hours between Pacific and Central, but West Wing is on at 7 in Iowa and 8 in LA...hence, 3 hours.
