10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America - Elvis tonight |
|
I have seen a few threads here asking why Elvis was and is so popular and thought some of you might want ot see this show tonight. I have watched some of these in this series and they are pretty good. Tonight's episode is about the impact Elvis had on pop culture and how his appearance on The Ed Sullivan show influenced "American attitudes about race, entertainment, fashion and sex in the decades to come". That's from the website.
It's on the History channel tonight at 9:00 EST

3. But without him the Beatles wouldn't have been possible |
|
Elvis is the one who, perhaps unwittingly, started the whole singer as sex symbol thing. Sure there was Frank Sinatra but he was singing standards.
Elvis made it cool to be authentic.

it just seems that the Beatles, because they were a band and played their own instruments AND sung, changed music more. To me, anyone.
I love both, though.
