Is it just me or am I starting to feel old here?
I remember a time where I was the youngest guy and musictvstar was the youngest girl. Serious y'all. Now I am starting to feel old with a handful of freshmen and 8th graders even.

25. Yep, when I was John's age,

JFK was shot. And I was in French class when we found out. Chemistry came after that and the teacher just had us put our heads down and didn't try to teach at all. People were crying. It was both forty years ago and last week, illustrating that time, like age, is relative.

Mostly due to body image. Then I had a serious accident in which I could have died and said, "What the hell". and just relaxed.

The more you try for a girlfriend, the easier it gets.

and I have to say, in response to the post above that it is all downhill after 30, that I have never been happier. The 30s were OK, but I was still too immature to do anything but worry or try to drown out the anxiety with obsessions. The 40s were wonderful--healthy, still looking good, and the wisdom was kicking in, making life a joy. I no longer slept in; I could hardly wait to get out of bed for the new day, whatever it held.

I hit my 50s with a bit of trepidation, grateful for the 40s, but, you know, old age and all that. Well, I have to admit, despite having a great plastic surgeon, I don't look quite as good as I did in my 40s. And though I'm still healthy, I have slowed down a bit, get stiff more easily, even have cramps sometimes. But the quality of life--the attitude with which I am able to approach it--is great. I love each day, cherish those around me, am often warm with joy. Wisdom is a very, very great thing--it's why yogis harp on exercise. They want you to be healthy when you've accumulated enough experience to actually enjoy life.

I don't know about the coming years. But they've all been OK so far, even decidedly better and better. I do know that the dread with which I used to face getting older was way, way over-hyped and exaggerated, out of place, trying to hurdle over a mountain when it was only a teeny mouse turd.

On edit: about not looking as good anymore, now that I'm in my 50s--objectively true, BUT my feelings about my looks, how I feel about myself, makes up for it. I used to be prettier, but I didn't feel any prettier than I do now. And here's the wisdom part--I used to think that it was better to look good than to feel good; now I would very much prefer to feel good than to look good, because the former (feeling dood) overwhelms and dwarfs to insignificance the latter.

44. I'll tell you what old is.
It's when you slip and fall in K-mart; you can't get up; two burly guys come along and have a hard time lifting you up; they threaten to get an ambulance; you have to really yell at them to get them not to and finally you are escorted out with a lot of embarassing attention. Then you feel old. Not before. :-)

72. Well
I've always felt older than I am.

And people have always thought I am older than I really am... but nope, I don't feel like an old geezer like ZombyWoof quite yet.

(Maggie never can resist an attempt to poke fun at the ZombyWoof in regards to age)

74. Well you do act a lot older than your age
explains your taste in older guys rather than immature younger idiots like myself :D. :hi: Maggie I havent talked to you since Friday night. I am gonna be out soon, damned work. Thanks for bumping this to the top, I just have been getting that feeling with all the "kids" heh. Remember when me and Michele had that crown, those days are over.

76. HA! You'll know you're getting much older...
...when a third of the pro sports athletes are younger than you.

Just think: When I was a senior, LeBron James was a sophomore.

It starts dawning on you at around 21.

Edited on Sun Dec-07-03 08:19 PM by Lizz612
My little sister will be 16 in March and is talking about driving. Agh! I don't drive and the thought of "Nanner" (my kid name for her) driving is scary as all hell!

86. Just you wait.
When you talk to someone about your favorite music/movies/books/tv/video game/orwhatever and they say "oh, that's so OLD!" or worse, give you a blank stare indicating no comprehension at all.

I might get that look from you, but - when the "Wild Wild West" movie with Will Smith came out I commented to my cousin, who's about 10 yrs younger than me, that Dr Loveless was a better character as a midget. She gave me the Stare. Now, she's about 10 yrs older than you, so you probably have no idea what I'm talking about.
