I was very impressed with the sportsmanship Oklahoma showed tonight.
It would have been very easy for the Oklahoma players to react badly to tonight's loss to Kansas State. But when the game was still undecided, they were helping KSU players up after plays and patting them on the helmut. Later, when the game was pretty much decided, the OU players still helped up KSU players and patted them on the back or helmut.

Other teams (I won't name names) would have been involved in at least one incident of bad sportsmanship. You all know I'm an Ohio State fan, and we all know about the Reynolds' choking incident during a tough loss to Wisconsin. (Most of you will remember that I wasn't happy about that incident, as an alum and fan. Sportmanship is important to me, even if it's my team that's wrong.) There was none of that tonight. We've also all seen other teams get into fights during a disappointing and frustrating loss. I didn't see any of that from the Oklahoma players tonight, and it impressed me. The Oklahoma coaches, too, behaved very well after the game. I'm seen losing coaches give their counterpart the obligatory handshake and walk away without saying anything to him. On the television, I saw an Oklahoma coach in an animated discussion with his KSU counterpart. Nice.

I'm not going to jump on the Sooner bandwagon over it (you don't want bandwagon jumpers anyway, do you, Sooner fans?) but I'm thinking very highly of Bob Stoops and his players tonight. And I have a long memory.

OU fans, this loss hurts, but you can be proud of your team tonight.

1. Thank you.
I am only an honorary Sooner, but I appreciate your kudos.

2. You're welcome.
It's not often I notice good sportsmanship. People, I think, notice bad things. It struck me, though, what good sports the OU people were.

3. Agree with your take. College sports won tonight.
Teams that react with class in difficult situations are usually reflections of their coaches.

Good sportsmanship reigned tonight. It was a breath of fresh air.
