Microwaved popcorn?

How come, with microwave popcorn, and half the time, the damn stuff never pops? I end up with a piping hot flag bag... except, much like Jessica Simpson, I don't care for it.

I'm having a poor record with the Act II brand.

Do you have problems with microwaved popcorn?

maybe try another brand? Are you putting the bag in the right way (this side up, means towards the top?)

2. I use Pop Secret with no problems.

Of course, I prefer popcorn done in a regular popper.

3. I use the local grocery store's house brand.

Most every kernel pops! "Buttery" flavour, if that makes any difference.

and I eat all different kinds of brands.

But I love the unpopped kernels. I love to nibble on them.

..and you need to pop it a little longer? Just a thought.

8. How long has the bag been sitting around before you

tried to pop it?

The old stuff dries out and doesn't have the required moisture to pop. It may have sat in a warehouse for a long time, or something like that.

And Act II is my regular brand. Might be your microwave.

In Japan, I used an American brand 1300 watt microwave, but the house voltage is lower over there. So more often than not, I'd get 2/3 bag popped, 1/3 of a sack of grannies. Over here, I get the full bag a minute quicker. Maybe your oven doesn't have enough oomph.
