2. I was there last month....and I missed the rain!
We got incredibly lucky.

The whales were plentiful and the people are the best!

Can't wait for next year.

4. When I've been in Hawaii I wake up routinely at 5 ...
But, then that's 8 am West Coast time, so that's not surprising.

you slept well because of it.

NOW STOP FUCKING RUBBING IT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He he...

I was there in May of '04 and LOVED it. Drive to the top of the crater. REALLY cool. Also, drive around the Hana road from the FAR end (Around the south side to Hana) TOTALLY cool and you'll see maybe ten cars as opposed to the hundreds on the North side of the island.

After all that you'll tell us you live there and i will look like a pillock.

have fun!

On edit to say OOPS!...this is A HERETIC I AM posting on my co-workers 'puter. I forgot he was logged. Dummy.

7. That was really me....i swear....

The road I'm referring to is Rte 37 which runs around the south side of the big end of the island. It is pretty primitive in places, several miles are unpaved but we got through there in a Hyundai so you'll be fine. You don't need a FWD to make the trip. There are some really cool beaches but it is VERY rocky. You can hear the rocks grinding against each other with each breaking wave, slowly making a black sand beach. Start early and take your time to explore every little side road. A drive i'll never forget and neither will you. The transition in scenery from the arid side to the wet side is dramatic and quick.
