A question about gas surcharges |
|
last summer when gas prices were so high, my trash pick-up company raised their prices because gas prices were so high. Fair enough, I thought. But when gas prices went back down, they didn't lower the trash pick-up price again. Now that gas prices are going up again, are they going to raise their prices because of that again?

1. Gas prices went back down? I don't remember that. |

They've been well above $2 a gallon for a long time here.
I'm a trucker and my company started charging a fuel surcharge back in 2000 when the fuel prices first spiked. A trucking company will not be in business long if they continue to charge the same rate that they did when fuel prices were at around a dollar a gallon. Currently, fuel costs trucking companies around 40 cents a mile.
In business the consumer always absorbs the cost of manufacturing the product or service. It has to be that way.
