What have you listened to today? |
|
It's been a while since we've had a fresh listening to thread.
Last owned CD that I heard was the Encyclopedia Of Jazz: The Gold Collection. Very good - features such names as Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Billie Holiday, Glen Miller, and Duke Ellington.
Also heard samples and iTunes song of the week "Out Here All Night" from the group Damone, which I absolutely loved! The full edition of the CD Out Here All Night comes out May 23, but you can get it on iTunes now.
Heard these CDs at the full album listening party:
Elefant - Black Magic Show: Too caught between moody alternative rock and catchier pop/rock. 2 stars out of 4.
Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia: it's not bad, but not really my thing. Definitely sounds better on the more upbeat stuff. 2.5 stars out of 4.

2. Traditional Irish songs, by and large. |
|
I've been brushing up on my Gaelic, a fairly useless but incredibly cool-sounding skill. :)

My grandfather gave me the jazz CD to have me brush up on my history more. I ended up enjoying it.

Pure and Exile. And a couple random songs from other albums mixed in.
Shuffled of course. :).
And I also listened to a little VNV Nation.

"Fox Confessor Brings the Flood". I haven't replayed anything so much since "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road". My only question is what do I get next by her?

I have all my CDs uploaded into my hard drive, and I went out and downloaded all the 80's songs I was missing from The Sony Connect music stroe. I now have 1200 tracks in my 80's mix, which can obviously be listened to nearly endlessly!

14. "You Can Close Your Eyes" |
|
by James Taylor, from the MUDSLIDE SLIIM AND THE BLUE HORIZON album.
"So close your eyes You can close your eyes -- it's alright I don't know no love songs And I can't sing the blues anymore..."
etc.
One of the best lullabyes for grown-ups ever penned.
