Skype..free phone calls anywhere in the world

I just heard about this on CNN.. Might be worth checking into.. The "govt" is trying to shut it down as we speak, but there are hundreds of thousands using it while it lasts.. It's free and no ads or spyware :)

I have cable, and I read/followed the tech help section....still won't connect. :(

I've got it all installed properly and all, but after I sign in it says "Connecting"...and then it says "Unable to connect!" in big rude red letters, like all accusingly...:cry:

Probably has something to do with the router, I opened what ports it said but that's the only thing that makes sense. I shall persevere, however! :)

Technically, it seems like a pretty good idea, even though it will suck up yet more bandwidth, and there's probably a market for it.

Meanwhile, I get unlimited long distance from my cellphone-- which isn't tied to a computer and phone jack or cable.

With the advances in cell phone technology, it is conceivable that your cellphone will have broadband access one day. When that happens, the big telcoms are dead.

but did you ever wonder just who put up all those wires, fiberoptic cables, microwave relays, and satellites that the internet runs off of?

And someone has to install and maintain those cell antennas all over the place.
