Is Anyone Else Here a Closet Smoker?
Besides Barbara Bush.

I am a closet smoker. It's my big secret. I never smoke in public or in my car. Just at nite when I'm tired. I like to smoke a cigarette in the evening. Sometimes I smoke more than one.

Can't help it. I'm addicted. So are the Bush people and the arch conservatives going to come and lock me up? Will I be dragged away in chains? Will secret cameras be installed in my house so I can be watched 24 hours a day?

I think our society is starting to get really stupid about smoking. There are a lot worse things people could be doing. I think smokers are just becoming the big scapegoats here. Scapegoats for everything.

If people can't smoke in public then they should'nt be able to drink in public, either. Drinking is a lot more dangerous to everyone around.

1. I used to be.. but quit altogether due to health reasons (not related
to smoking).. One in the evening with coffee, or occasionally after a big meal.. nothing more. I still miss it. If people can 'drink socially' or have a 'nightcap'.. then the same attitude should apply to a cig now and then, imo.

2. Nothing closeted about my smoking.
I'm thinking of setting a quit date soon-too expensive for the smokes, the life insurance and the smoking freaks my daughter out.

3. I am, on and off.
I was for a good 6-8 months straight, until a few weeks ago. Usually, I'd have a smoke or two while at work or going to work. It's the stress. I've made a concerted effort to stop even that.

5. Have you smoked outside of the closet?
Yea, smoking in a closet isn't a good idea. Makes your close all smell.

6. Used to be
I would go for a drive a few nights a week after my wife went to bed and smoke three or four cigs in about an hour of driving around. I would chew Clorets Gum and use Handi-Wipes to cover the smell. I would wear a windbreaker so my clothes would not smell and I would stash the windbreaker in the trunk. Eventually, all this BS to hide what I was doing got to be stupid, so I just quit altogether.

I basically don't want my kids thinking that smoking is OK, and if I were to smoke, that would make it OK.

9. Yep! I enjoy a Nat Sherman Classic Mint cigarette
every now and then. No nasty menthol chems, just plain mint. I never really like cigarettes at all until someone shared a Nat with me at a concert once and I've like em' since.

10. I've never heard of that.
I always just smoked Marlboros - I liked the cowboy in the ads. Of course he died of lung cancer. But what the hey.
