Becker is even worse: someone who knowingly collaborates with an ass.
I put them on par with the Eagles: smarmy feel-good "intellectual" pop for "sophisticated" listeners who think Kenny G is jazz.

"Kid Charlemagne" is probably one of my all-time favorite songs by any artist. Any Dan naysayers can go back to their Bjork, Radiohead, or other over-hyped critical darlings.

58. I saw them in concert the first time they played in 19 years back in the |
|
90's. They opened their tour at The Palace of Auburn Hills (Where the Detroit Pistons play) and even though my seats sucked - at the time, it was the 2nd fastest sellout in Ticketmaster history - it was totally cool hearing 20,000 35 year olds singing "My Old School" I saw them twice after that in subsequent visits to the Detroit area. All great concerts.
I don't think the last two albums hold a candle to their earlier work but they have never written a song that i didnt enjoy.
"On the counter by your keys is a book of numbers and your remedies. One of these surely will screen out the sorrow but where are you tomorrow? I don't care anymore why you run around (fade away) Just when it seems so clear that it's over now Drink your big black cow and get out of here."
Throw out your gold teeth and see how they roll The answer they reveal - life is unreal
Best lyricists ever. Best arrangements ever.
