I'm pretty sure Paddy MacAloon's a Scot. God, I fucking loves me some Prefab Sprout.

|
I agree. 'Hot Dog, Jumping Frog, Albequerque'. If we did a favourite English band, we'd have to accept nominations. I might do that.

between Waterboys and Teenage Fanclub - and the RCZ throws in PreFab Sprout? Enough great choices to make my head spin. I chose Waterboys. I loved Fisherman Blues and In a Pagan Place.

the "Incredible String Band" deserves some consideration, if only as the most strange and wonderful of Scottish bands.

If I put in the Eurythmics, I'd have to put in Garbage. Both bands had a Scottish singer, but one was English, the other American

Hey, and they're still around too.
And their two 90's albums "change Everything" and "Waking Hours" were fabulous.
(on edit - damn typos!)

I own two CDs.
But I can't say they're the best. See my post above about Del Amitri. Although I agree about Currie's sideburns.

28. Pffft. "Honourable mention" my ass. |
|
<rant>The Rezillos were far and away the greatest Scottish band of all time. So, they only had one album (two if you count the live album).
Look, the stuff Jo Callis did with Human League doesn't count, nor does the output of the Revillos. We're talking CAN'T STAND THE REZILLOS, possibly the single greatest non-English UK record of all freakin' time.</rant>
