http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/05/03/wdog03.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/05/03/ixworld.htmlI like mine well fed, happy and alive. I realize there are some cultures and people who eat dogs, I'm not one of them.

9. I think it tastes more like veal, but with a little gamey-ness to it. |
|
I don't think rabbit tastes like chicken at all. It's very mellow, but with a somewhat fuller taste than chicken.

Not like chicken, more like quail, which also tasted like birdshot.

2. And some cultures prefer cows alive and well fed. Why be judgmental? |
|
Why this America-centric bias against eating something that we might think "sacred" while laughingly pissing on those cultures who revere the animals that we do eat?

While both are delicious, and I don't knock anyone for eating them, I guess I've seen too many nature documentaries for both critters.

"He invited Danes to try eating dog meat themselves. "I do not mind eating dog meat at all," he said. "The dogs I eat have been bred to be eaten anyway, just like chickens."
Except that they are not chickens you sick f*ck.

in many places in Europe (France and the Netherlands, for instance) horsemeat is not uncommon, but in America and the UK, most people are horrified and vaguely disgusted at the idea of eating horse. Cultural differences, that's all.

"Prince Henrik learnt Danish and changed his name, religion and nationality to marry Queen Margrethe II in 1967. But he has repeatedly complained about the Danes' lack of willingness to accept him."
Then maybe keeping quiet about the whole dog-eating thing might have helped!

20. Some people are disgusted at the thought of eating any animal. |
|
Others are totally Vegan. And I knew a Jain lady who wouldn't eat certain vegetables for moral reasons.
I'm part of the large group culturally taught to be picky--if hypocritical. No dog for me. No horse. And no sea mammal. I can't look down on those who eat these animals--but I won't go to their house for dinner.

Taking an animal that's specially bred as a companion to human beings and eating it just seems awfully strange, even by omnivore standards, which seem odd and contradictory to me on the best of days I must admit.
