I got a most marvelous review on my writing! |
|
Edited on Fri May-05-06 02:33 PM by BikeWriter
Oh, it has made my entire day! I had sent my story "Princess Linden's Sash" http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=216&topic_id=3464&mesg_id=3464 an excerpt from one of my books to my step-grand Daughter. She "liked" the story! We grand parents are so easily pleased! :)

6. Thank you, Dear. I hope it's something you can post? |
|
:toast: Oh, that's cream soda, isn't it? We wouldn't want the thread locked for under age drinking! :)

12. They are the lifeblood of writing |
|
There is very little that matches the feeling of having someone tell you that your writing mattered. That they were touched by it, that it made them laugh, that it entertained them, that your words resonated. The best review I ever got was from a man who read what I had written and sent me a letter. How he got my address, I don't know... But he said "Thank you. You described my feelings perfectly. Only I never had the words to communicate what I felt.... and you gave me the words." Damn! Can you get better than that?
Of course one bad review can almost kill you. So if you really want to be a writer - expect some real highs and some real lows.
When you are ready for a review.... please let me know. I really wanna see your work.
Khash.

5. That is SO COOL! Congrats! |
|
It's also incredibly cool that you write for her. You must love her very much. (When I was a really liittle kid my mom used to write and illustrate stories for me - they are some of my most treasured possessions.)
BTW, I read the excerpt you posted.... and I agree with her review. I liked it too :)

10. Thank you, Dear. The entire story was written as a salute... |
|
to strong women. Yes, I have men who are central characters in it, but I developed tha Princess from a toddler up, and fell in love with her as I wrote the story. ;)

13. Yes'm, I'm writing that one as a fiction book... |
|
The central characters have gone through a number of adventures, but it is still in need of some development.

15. It really is! The idea for this book came from a picture the ex painted... |
|
It showed a Wizard who'd been blasted by Dragon's breath. He was sitting on the side of a precipice with the Dragon above him. A tome by his side has "Dragon Training Made Easy" in runes written on it. ;-)
