Okay, Loungers--Describe Your First Date.
I don't mean your first date with your current SO. I mean your FIRST first date. The one you had when you were 16/17/18/insert other age here, where you were so nervous you couldn't breathe.

Just for hell's sake, of course--all in good fun. I don't wanna go to bed, and I'm curious about y'all. I want to know how old people were when they first started dating.

;) ;)

26. I'll help you out.
I went out for the first time with a boy when I was fifteen. It was the "Sno-Ball" where girls ask guys, but only if they're absolutely sure they guy's gonna say yes. I was a scrawny little nerd and hadn't planned on attending the festive affair, but I heard a rumor that a certain young man - his name was Lyle - was interested in me and so I asked him, and he said yes.

There are pictures of me in a full-length, lacy monstrosity of a gown in a style that was popular back then. I look nervous and happy. Lyle was also a tremendous nerd but turned up at my house looking pretty dapper in his pastel-colored tux. He brought a small bouquet which he pinned with trembling fingers to the (utterly flat) front of my dress. And we were off! I don't remember much about the rest of the night. There was dancing, sweaty dancing and slow-dancing. There was the smell of his hair and the odd angularity of his hands. Then the lights flooded the gym. The dance was over and he drove me home. On my porch Lyle gave me the first kiss of the night. It was... awkward.

Sigh. Fast forward about six years. I'm crossing the campus on a fall afternoon and who should I meet but Lyle! There he is! Tall, thin, still rather dapper looking. His skin has cleared. His clothes are trendy. Most surprising however is what he's holding in his arms. Why, it's a handsome man!

The story of my life, that.

We had a good time, which was no shock since we were friends for years. He didn't kiss me and I was a bit disappointed, so the next date I kissed him- twice. He seemed to warm up to the kissing thing after that. :D

Anyhow, I was 12 I think? Sometime in Junior High. He was the same grade but a year or so older.

He's in the Marines now. I worry about him.

It was back when people didn't have heart attacks if minors showed up at a place serving alcohol to adults. The strongest thing all four of us had to drink was Dr. Pepper. (Apparently, I forgot until right now that it was a double date.)

With a cool guy from jazz band... our drummer/tenor sax player...

We went to go see 'The Pink Panther'

We enjoyed it.

And then we got our pictures taken...

And then we stood out in front of the theater and threw popcorn at each other and laughed the whole time...

It was wonderful...

15. It Was Really Boring
When I was 16 I went to Wildwood NJ for a little summer vacation with my parents and we stayed in this teeny-weeny hotel that was kind of off the beaten path. The owner of the hotel was a nice old lady and her grandson was there every day to help her. For some reason he had the hots for me and had her ask my parents if he could take me to an amusement park and out to eat. My parents thought it was cute and I went on the date, but I was not amused. He had the personality of a dead mosquito, he stared at my boobs the entire time (the little bit I had) and he kept trying to hold my hand. I was glad when it was over. Yuck!

24. I was 17, she was 15 or 16
She looked a lot like Karen Carpenter.

She was playing me off one of my oldest friends, but I didn't know that at the time.

Double-date at the drive-in. No idea what the movie was; both front and back seats spent the entire time kissing. (In the front seat's case, just kissing.)

I was supposed to be home by 11 p.m. I didn't realize how ridiculous that was; I was just happy to be going out with a real live gur-rull.

Got home about 2:15.

She was still up when I got home — she was still up when I got home every single time I went out — and she greeted me with a very angry, "Hi, was it worth it?"

With rather wrung-out lips, I said, "Yeah, Mom, I do believe it was."

When I was 19 I ditched a girl at a youth hostel, we had been travelling together and she was busting my chops too much so I bailed. The chop-busting was probably an indicator that we were a couple of sorts. who would dare nag someone who is not in a couple with them? We had gone out a few times for drinks, museums, etc. I enjoyed my travels more without her.

66. I'll exclude the one when I was 4
the boy on the corner came to the door and asked me for a 'date'. We used to walk hand in hand, everyone called him my boyfriend, but he was also my confidante. ("my mom told me I'm an aunt, whatever that is." He even tried to help me figure it out) He moved away when I was 6.

Fast forward to...14, I think...a chap asked me to a dance. I thought he was liked my friend, as they had been on a date too, but even though we all went together to this dance, I was his 'date'.

He was so flaming, even at that age...I thought it was because he liked "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

That was our first and only date, though we kept in touch for a bit. He moved a few cities farther away, and we eventually lost contact.

71. Wow. Flashback!

I was 17, and felt like a freak because it was the summer after my senior year of high school. I hated San Antonio, and only had acquaintances, not real friends. All the acquaintances had dates, and boyfriends, and were relatively normal. Not me!

One night, a couple of us went to a teen club, and a guy actually paid attention to me. He went to a nearby high school, so we agreed to go out the next weekend.

We went and saw the movie "Rhinestone" (??!!) and had a bite at a Jim's. No chemistry, not much in common, but at least I'd been on a date. I kind even remember if he kissed me or not. Maybe a small peck.

Fortunately, college started in another two months or so, and I finally got to start experiencing life for the first time.
