1. Ugh...instead of wallowing in trashing Gore...
...why not use that energy to POSITIVELY boost YOUR candidate?

But no....let's drop to the lowest common denominator. Let's let the disruptors set the agenda and discussion topics.

The primaries and convention can't get here fast enough...:eyes:

Edited on Tue Dec-09-03 09:37 AM by Richardo
It's an endorsement, not an appointment. And even the media are focusing more on what it means for former running-mate Joe Lieberman than anyone else.

I'm still working the precincts and phones for my guy until I hear a concession speech.

In the meantime: *puts fingers in ears* "LA LA LA LA LA LA I-can't-hear-you LA LA LA LA" :-)

8. Allow me to summarize
1. WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH....Gore didn't endorse my candidate, so he's a traitor!!

2. Gore's announcement will divide us and lead to Bush victory (guess who is posting this kind of crap :eyes: )

About 20 different variations on those two themes make up GD right now.

9. I've been going through the GD archives of Summer of 02
Very interesting.

It was between Gore and Kerry then, and there were many trashing Gore back then.

I could only find one thread so far that even mentioned Dean - I'm looking for the first mention of Dean on DU. This is the first major thread I've found so far.

8. This was my first exposure to Dean
I don't know if this is his usual "appearance" or if I was hyped for more because of the comments made here, but count me as being happy he's a Democrat but unwilling to support him as President.
I'm still a Kerry man.

19. But the problem is that just about every other Democrat has
been critical of the war on MTP, and since the "Bush Knew" fiasco there hasn't been any backlash from speaking out.
One of my requirements for anyone running for President is that they speak out against the war, or at least the direction the war has taken. Dean failed that test.

Like I said above, I'm glad he's on our team, but he's not going to get my vote in a primary.

THAT IS TOO FUNNY!!!

That should teach people that I can change my opinion, even radically.

Clark is almost surely the VP choice whether it is Dean or Kerry or well that pretty much it, Gephart isn't really a consideration is he? Edwards jumped the gun by running this time.

Anyway I have some unbelieveable W pictures I'm about to post for captioning.

13. The repetition of Rightwing talking points disgusts me the most!
"Gore lost." (thanks to the supremes)
"Bush won." (thanks to the supremems)
"Gore's campaign was weak." (thanks to the media telling us so)

Posters in GD are proof that RW media repetition works. The tiny slivers of truth in the oft-repeated above statements are buried by the millions of RW-spun headlines.

Never forget: Gore won! And what makes anyone believe that more people support the freak monkey now than they did in 2000? The 3 million out-of-work? The military voters? The repentent Greens? The soon-to-retire Baby Boomers?

My only fear is that Dems will stay home on election day out of spite.

14. I have never trashed any Dem I did think Gore went to far Right
in 2000 and it really was a pesty thing for me but even if I am listed as Green and believe Nadar was right, hard to tell the differece in Gore and Bush, I vote for Gore. I knew you could not split the left and win. Also Bush had moved to the left and would not 'rule' that way.I think Gore went with Clinton, who I like, but he is very in the center on some things, like NAFTA which he was going to do something with but ended up just signing the thing, It could have been re-done to help workers more.I do not think trying to run for the under de-clared middle is good planning. They vote for so many odd things and usually do not have basic beliefs but just one subject things to vote on.

I frankly wouldn't have a problem with whoever the President-In-Exile endorsed, in fact, I might have taken another look at that candidate. As it is, I'm happy it's Dean.

And for the record, I like Clark. Dean/Clark would be fucking unstoppable.

earlier today, it was the majority of Clark supporters that said we deserved the endorsement, and now, it's the new Clark supporters (armed with RW talking points) that have disrupted the good vibe earlier. I hate to say this, but it's the few that are the loudest disrupters in any campaign on this website.

32. Sometimes I think we let the REPUGS play us like puppets...
THEY leak that the Repugs WANT DEAN and all of a sudden we start attacking Dean. THEY leak that Gore's endorsement "short circuits" the democratic process, and WE start echoing that. THEY put out miscellaneous disinformation on Dean, Kerry, CLark, you name it... And we devour it, like a starving man.

We just have to be smarter than them and stop letting them manipulate us, our primaries, our nomination process, our election! That won't happen from attacking each other.

35. Speaking as a person leaning towards Clark
While I am not pleased with Gore's endorsement, I will never trash him for it. Gore will always be the first candidate I supported whole-heartedly and something like one endorsement won't change that. I agree, though, some people are getting ridiculous--going back to the 2000 campaign and how Gore "mismanaged" that. Um, hello? I thought we had already established that no matter how good or bad he ran his campaign, Bush would have somehow weasled his way into the Oval Office.

40. I'm a Clark supporter
and I wasn't at all disappointed that Gore endorsed Dean. Al Gore is great and I'm sure his endorsement won't hurt, but I'm not sure how much it will help, under the circumstances. I certainly don't see the endorsement hurting any of the other candidates except for Lieberman, obviously.

I am, however, disappointed that the pundits and a lot of Dean people on DU seem to think this ties up a Dean nomination with a neat little bow, even though there has not been a single vote yet cast.

I did not see the coverage of the official endorsement, but from what I've read, apparently Gore said the other candidates should stop bashing Dean and unite behind him (this is second hand info, so I could be wrong about this). That's what the other DUers seemed to be pissed off about, but I didn't read that as trashing Gore. Maybe I missed something.

Anyway, FWIW, congrats on the endorsement, Dean's basically a good guy and he worked hard for it.
