Help! I need a font!

Seriously...

I somehow "lost" a font on my PC.

Freehand 591 bt

I'm working on a poster, and of course I NEED that font. Microsoft's "800-FU Line" said, in essence, too bad -- you bought a pc that had our product on it, so they don't feel I personally purchased their software . (WTF) And Dell, my laptop people, said "FOR A FEE...their hardware techie types might be able to help me retrieve it from my hard drive..."

Then, I went online in search of a free download, but everyone wants to charge me $25 for one font!

I'm sooooo frustrated....and trying to finish my art piece/ad.

Guess I should've bought a MAC...

Any ideas or links to sites with truly FREE truetype fonts?

1. Microsoft are right.

Dell are right to charge you to get old data off one machine to another.

The only free fonts are crap fonts. I suggest buying a licensed version of the font you're looking for.

It's on my current machine...

It just somehow disappeared and I have no idea how that happened.

9. I checked, I have a lot of fonts by Bitstream (the foundry that makes it)

But oddly enough, I don't have that particular font. Sorry.

4. If it was originally installed on your machine...

then reinstalling from the manufacturer-supplied system restore disc might get it back. (Or reinstalling whatever MS word-processing software came bundled with your PC.)

15. Thank you. I was trying to avoid the $24.75 fee.

I think I clicked on every supposed "free" font listing on Google, and none were truly free.

Not to be a cheapie, it's just that I did have the font on my PC, and through some strange quirk, it disappeared.

The icon reads FRHND591 but it's freehand 591 bt. You can read the exact name when you open the font.

You know, when I called Microsoft and then Dell, and no one could/would help, etc., I was so bummed.

Then, it hit me -- ask the DUers! And sure enough, you 'guys' came through.

No, they don't have Freehand 591 (since it's a copyrighted font) but they have several similar; check under "scripts."
