Can someone recommend health insurance provider for a child?
I have health insurance, and right now my child can't be covered under my plan. She was insured by the state, but they dropped her by mistake (four months ago, they admit it's their mistake) and I've been fighting for that crappy coverage and being jerked around since then...meanwhile, she's still uninsured.

I've about had it and I'm looking to buy her a policy myself, if I can. Do insurance companies do that? I'm going to be calling later, just curious if anyone has gone through a similar situation.

It can be prohibitively expensive. You might be able to get a high deductible plan that will cover your daughter in case of emergency, however, that is still tough on your wallet, but not as bad as regular health insurance.

I would check with a few bigger ones - United Health, Aetna, Blue Cross/Wellpoint. Then, ask around friends or co-workers to see if there are alternatives out there.

2. Blue Cross and United were both going to run me
around $300 a month. Right now my daughter is still on state coverage.

I don't know how they do it there but in my state the coverage is retroactive three months back. Any bills in the last three months before coverage are covered. It might be worth it to still fight them.

3. What state do you live in?
Your state should have a department of insurance. You can call them and they can give you a list of insurance companies that offer individual coverage.

As for the cost...is your daughter healthy and had insurance coverage within the last sixty days(after the mistake is fixed)? An insurance company should be able to offer you something reasonable($50.00 to Whatever a month). Just remember for $50, you get what you pay for, and it's just going to cover your ass for the bare necessities.

Here is a website to get you started...http://www.iii.org/
