Greetings from Yellowstone! Don't forget DU's The Necessary Language... |
|
...our online literary magazine at TheNecessaryLanguage.com Lots of great stories (as always) in this Spring edition!
Ran into a bear--literally--on a path the other day. I turned a corner and there he was. I yelled (wrong!) but he still didn't see me because he was grazing. I backed up the hill and watched him for a bit. Big old black bear--better that than a grizzly!

Left a BIG dent.
Splain that one to the insurance agent, right?

|
Seriously, in his mind the van was encroaching on his territory and that was the only way he could let it know!

8. great time to visit Yellowstone |
|
I love it when it's cold there, and everything seems more active.
The last time I was there was 2002--it was about two weeks later than this, but I got caught in a vicious snowstorm as the day ended. We decided to drive back to my mom's rather than stay in the park, which might have been a mistake--that snowstorm provided the single most gruesome driving experience of my life, but DAMN was it beautiful!
Enjoy Yellowstone, a place very close to my heart :toast:

I always wanted to spend a summer in yellowstone. Are you working there? Or just enjoying?
Enjoy the few tourists while it lasts :) That same day in late may that we got caught in a snowstorm we wandered around the entire loop at Old Faithful and saw maybe 20 people, tops. It was great :hi:

:hi: I remember my first trip to Yellowstone. We were out in the NF and the rangers made us watch a video on bear encounters :scared:.
We didn't see any bears on that trip, but we had a moose come down to the stream we were camped next to. Have a great summer and update us when you can.
