A tip about fuel economy--pass it on |
|
If you let the needle in your gas gauge go waaaaaaay below E, it actually flips to the other side and ends up over F.
That's it, people--we all have an infinite supply of gasoline already at our disposal, and yet we persist in the delusion that we need to fill up at the pump every 300 miles or so.

1. Yeah, but I think you make a rip in the space-time continuum. |
|
Is it really worth that?

2. With gas at $3.00 a gallon? Heck yes! |
|
Why am I the one always getting blamed for ripping the space-time continuum? It was like that when I got here, I swear!

I'll have to give that a try
Seriously, I heard once that you shouldn't let it get below 1/4 tank, since you're increasing the concentration of impurities in the gas, and thus a greater chance that said impurities will get through the gas filter, and thus cause more wear and tear on your pistons and such.
Not that I ever follow that advice, of course. But it sorta makes sense. Any car-savvy DUers care to comment?

5. I keep all my impurities in the first 1/4 |
|
Therefore I never fill my take past the 3/4 mark.
It's simple, really.

So that first 1/4 is what the infinite supply spontaneously generates from then? You're so smart!

8. Stick with me, and we'll all be rich before you know it |
|
And if I can help defeat the anti-infinite-gas cartels along the way, so much the better!

11. It's a slight safety issue |
|
Gas fumes are explosive, the liquid isn't, so if your tank is empty the explosion will be bigger, or so I've heard

13. Car tank explosions are so extremely rare as to not really be a factor |
|
Outside of episodes of "Alias", that is :P

Here I am, trying to save us from the dangers of peak oil, and then some party-pooper has to come in with automotive know-how and ruin everything for the rest of us.
Thanks a ton, LSK!

If your fuel pump goes out, then the car cannot burn anymore gas, thus saving you lots of money!!!

Maybe I'll take the wheels off, too, so that I'll burn even less than no gas!
