Curtain-hanging question (easy!) |
|
I've just bought some curtains. I have a flat metal rod, the kind with the open groove in the back, and the curtains are old-fashioned, thick, cream-colored fake-raw-silk stuff... you know, the pleated kind.
What do I need to buy to hang them? Like, when I go to the local hardware store in a few minutes, what do I need to ask for?
Any help appreciated!!!

1. Bring the rod with you |
|
And ask the salesperson. That's the easiest way. Those rods come in different sizes - that way, you'll get what works.

It's already screwed to the wall, with the lace curtains on it. ?!

4. they should lift off of the brackets that are screwed into the wall |
|
get a stepladder, and lift up on the rod, should come off pretty easily. those curtains have to be cleaned- rods are designed to allow easy removal of the curtain.

Does it have the pocket in the top? Then you need those giant paper-clip looking thingies, they slide into the pocket, then the hook hangs on the rod.

I guess I will have to take it down and take it to the store... which is probably a good idea! :)

You have a curtain rod. Measure the depth and height or take it off the rod and bring it with you. Also measure the depth of the pleats (it sounds like you have pinch pleated drapes, not curtains) or bring a drape with you. Drapery hooks come in different sizes and it's important to get ones that are about the right size.
