This is why I prefer to travel alone (rant)
My daughter is getting married the first weekend of June. She's in St. Paul, Minnesota - I'm in the bay area of California. For the last six months, I've been planning to drive out there for her wedding. I've taken two weeks off from work to do so because I love road trips and my SO hates flying. Seemed like a fun idea and he was fully on board for it.

It's been a major headache ever since.

He suggested about 2 months ago that we bring a small tent and camp our way there, getting a motel when we arrive. Made sense to me - after all, we only need accomodations on the road to sleep, we both love to camp and a tent site is generally cheaper than a room. So I worked that into the plans.

A week later, he'd changed his mind.

I said, fine, we'll bring the tent - if we decide to camp we'll have it, if not, we'll get a room.

Next, he got nervous about finding places to stay and wanted me to find a list of every fucking campsite and motel between here and St. Paul. Will we need reservations? Where are we going to eat? What route are we going to take - do we know there's a campsite that way?

Now I'm a fly by the seat of my pants traveling woman and I don't worry about all that shit. There are motels and campsites frigging everywhere and a Denny's every 3 miles - he isn't going to starve and he's not going to end up sleeping in the car in the middle of nowhere (not that I'd care about that - been there, done it). I don't get what he's obsessing about - we've got all the time in the world to get there, we can drive in a liesurely fashion, see some sights, stop when we want to and go when we want to, arriving in plenty of time for the wedding.

Or at least I thought we could.

Today, he calls me and asks if we can leave 2 days later than planned because his boss wants him to stay and work on a project. "It will give us money for the trip" he says.

WHAT TRIP?! What sense does it make to turn the trip into a rush to get there just so we can pay for it (which we already can do)? :nuke:

THIS is why I always travel alone. If I survive this, I'll be able to survive anything. :banghead:

(and no, we're not leaving 2 days early - at least, I'm not. I'll go alone first)
