The Canucks were SOL for a backup tonight, so they called the local univerity's golatender!

Big thrill for him I'm sure, imagine gettin that phonecall. Near the end of the first the starter was briefly hurt and it looked as though they may have had to put him in....you could smell his impending vomit through the TV. Anyway, too bad he didn't get to play woulda been cool for him.

Just thought I'd share. Moments like that are rare.

1. Happy Valentine's Day

A few years back, Blues' goalie Brent Johnson suffered a ruptured nut when his cup was shattered during warmup. On Valentine's Day.

Not related, I know...

7. Blues fan, don't hold it against me.

The Blues have gone to the playoffs so often and never one the big prize. Plus we lost Hull and Shanahan to Detroit. Joseph too, but they don't seem to want him...

P.S. - On your Muppet poll, are Sesame Street characters muppets. I know Kermit was on "the Street" as the kids like to call it. I liked Dark Crystal a lot too. And Farscape had some cool Henson muppets.

16. Hull didn't go straight to Detroit from St. Louis.
He stopped by in Dallas and helped them win their only cup. Then they decided to let Detroit take Hull. Big disaster.

8. what was his name ?
Curious because I met a dude online awhile back who 'claimed' he was a goalie at U-Vancouver ... he and I were chattin hockey about the time that Bertuzzi took out Stockman (Blues) shoulder in October ...
so he obviously knows the game.

Would it be a trip if it were the same dude ?!? :wow:

13. I'm not saying the Arizona Screaming Weasles should move...
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 08:25 AM by northwest
...I'm just mentioning to acknowledge where your team came from in the first place. From 1972-1996, they played hockey in a bitter-cold Canadian city of 700,000 people, a TRUE hockey market. People would trudge thru -30 degree wind chills before and after every Winnipeg Jets home game to get to their cars. They didn't start off in a sprawl-crazy suburban city in a semi-tropical desert who's populace mostly has no knowledge of the game.

I'm just mentioning the absolute TRAVESTY that occurred when the Jets left for a sunny, warm (hockey???) city.

I know where the Coyotes originated from, I lived in Arizona for 13 years. They didn't start off in a sprawl-crazy suburban city in a semi-tropical desert who's populace mostly has no knowledge of the game. Since when did Phoenix become a suburban city? Phoenix may not be a hockey city but they do have a hockey team, I wouldn't call Memphis a Basketball City but they do have a basketball team.
