1. Man, what about Jack Morris's 10-inning shutout in game 7 of 1991 series?
I'm a Twins fan, and I'm definitely biased, but come on. It's right up there with the best ever.

3. I thought Josh Becket was incredible (for Marlins vs. Yanks) in the
Series a few years ago, seemed unhittable.

5. That was a good performance.
But 12 perfect innings is unbelievable!
And the poor guy isnt even credited with a no-hitter after a rule change about 10 years ago.

6. Ya, but since I actually WATCHED Becket (on TV) do it, and not only
that, against my most hated team, it has special resonance with me.

I'd probably go with Gibson, but again I didn't see it.

I seem to remember Dave Stewart with the A's mowing down a bunch of SF Giants during the Subway/Earthquake series, games I saw on TV again...

7. Haddix
Sandy Koufax's perfect game against the Cubs was a masterpiece, but how do you top 12 perfect innings?

9. While it won't make the list...

...the most impressive performance I've ever seen live was Jerry Reuss's one-hitter for the Dodgers against the Astros in early 1982.

What makes that performance so spectacular was that Reuss allowed the one hit on a double by Art Howe with two out in the first. In the second, one of the Houston batters hit a fly ball to the outfield. From that point on, not a single ball was hit out of the infield -- every Houston at-bat resulted in either a strikeout, grounder, or pop-up to an infielder.

:wow:

I should also mention "the greatest pitching performance that almost was"...Billy Rohr's major-leage debut for the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium in the third game of the 1967 season. Rohr came within one strike of a no-hitter (unprecedented for a rookie making his first start) before Elston Howard got a hit with two out in the ninth. About a week later, Rohr beat the Yankees again, this time at Fenway Park...and never won another major-league game thereafter.
