Rant about people's expectations
Edited on Tue May-23-06 08:05 PM by ikojo
My roommate has a bike that needs some repairs. He is taking it to the local bike shop. No problem there. The problem for me is that he left the apartment at 745 and the bike shop closes at 8PM. Now, mind you he SAT at home all evening until 745, KNOWING the place closes at 8PM. I told him that people like him made me hate one of the jobs I had a few years ago. I worked in an area of the hospital that took in walk ins for mammograms and wouldn't you know it, regularly people came in exactly at 5PM and the radiology techs were required to take them which meant they had to stay until the mammogram had been read by the radiologist. If additional tests were needed then they were given as well.

Well, I told the above story to my roommate and he said, "last I looked I was paying them." GOD I am SO SICK of Americans thinking that JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ALMIGHT CUSTOMER THEY CAN COME IN RIGHT AT CLOSING TIME and expect the same level of service as someone who had their stuff together enough to go in earlier. It makes me sick. My response to him was, "oh I forgot you're a prince. I respect the employees as workers and would not expect them to stay after for me."

Last week following the Ride of Silence, he stopped at this same bike store. I told him they were closed. He saw the people in the store counting out money and doing other closing related things. He said he had to pick up a bike item he ordered, so he stood at the door until one of the employees came to the door. He told the employee what he needed, the employee repeated that they were closed and my roommate said, 'I've already paid for the item, I just want to pick it up." So the guy went to the back got the f*****g item and handed it to my roommate. All my roommate said was thank you. I said, "thank you for helping him after you have closed."

He just makes me sick sometimes! ABSOLUTELY SICK. He expects people to cater to him if he is paying for something.

WHAT A JACK@$$!
