4. Doesn't sound like an American around me.
Edited on Wed May-24-06 07:13 AM by haruka3_2000
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York-New_Jersey_English

It's less of a noticeable accent for most people around me because I live in the suburbs. However, when I lived directly across the Hudson from New York, anyone who could speak English sounded like the wikipedia article. I have more of the "accent" than the kids I went to HS with.

I'm kind of surprised it's that much southern. Here in St. Louis is the furthest south I've ever lived - and I've only been here for about 8 years.

Most of my answers also seemed to match either the northeast or the Great Lakes area. Kind of weird how many northeast answers I had...considering I've never even BEEN to the northeast.

the nicest anti-bellum plantation house in lake barrington illinois...back in 1979(?)
I had worked with his daughter(miss torie) at santa's village...in retrospect, it could have been a fairly "historic" meeting, seeing as i'm a direct descendent of Sam Houston...

bob lee was definitely stuck in the past...it was funny seeing him address our small group of 19-20 year-old stoners- "...will you gentlemen be drinking bourbon, or scotch...?"(said with a heavy drawl)
"...miss torie will get you some ice.."

much later, as we were leaving- we were relieving ourselves near the kennels, when the hunting hounds made the HUGE mistake of coming up to the chain-link fence to bark at the line of drunken young men relieving their bladders on the other side of said fence...i'll let you figure out what happened...

That is dead on considering i am from the metroplex. My mom grew up here, but daddy is from colorado. Most of the family lives in Arkansas and my best friends were yanks (anything north of the red river) so I say pop. If it said I was a yank I would have cried.

Must have picked that 31% up from exposure to them, but I fight it all the time, being a NYer. (heck, my family wasn't even here yet during the Civil War, that's the only reason they allowed me to marry her).

Cold cut sandwiches are not po-boys. And if I had chosen po-boys, I would have had a much better rating. The pollster sucks!!!
