Has anyone else here, never watched American Idol?
What other shows or reality T.V. can't you stand?
Just curious.

1. Me -- I hate "reality" TV.
Although Last Comic Standing is okay -- at least they do something on that show, which also happens to not be annoying.

The problem is, if you don't like "Reality" TV, you're screwed as far as prime time viewing is concerned. Oh well, there's always a Law & Order episode on somewhere!

100. Same here.
I don't really watch television at all, unless I am staying at someone else's house and then I go for Comedy Central or the Movie Classic stations (or the old sitcoms, Bewitched, Beverly Hillbillies, etc.)

I have never even seen a reality show, and I doubt that I ever will unless someone ties me to chair and forces me to watch.

I have been reprimanded a couple of times by them for making snide remarks about the show.

P.S. I grew up watching "Cannon" it was o. k., and I also watched "Mannix", remember that one?

49. Ah, yes, "Mannix", with Mike Connors
I just looked up the trivia for that show on imdb. Over eight seasons, Mannix was knocked out 55 times and shot another 17 times.

I remember the Bob & Ray parody of the show, "Bummix". Every time, an innocuous Q&A with someone would escalate into loud violence.

They, the fascist idolaters, are supposedly reporting all the news that MATTERS, I don't think so.
Hence, the term, media whores.

12. I've never seen it. I remember after Kelly Clarkson won,
her songs got a lot of airplay, and I just found her music so boring. I usually do not care for any commodity that has mass appeal, but I don't bash others who do watch.

My husband tapes Jerry Springer and Cheaters. I find the Springer show depressing at times, so I usually don't watch it. Cheaters is my only guilty pleasure reality show.

16. Never watched American Idol
nor any of its British equivalents.

Watched 1 episode of "Big Brother" - only because people at work were getting quite obssesive about a major development, I watched and discovered that this major thing was that somebody had brought a pencil in with them and had made some notes.

The only "reality" show which I do watch is Wife Swap - and then only the British ones (they broadcast some of the American ones over here).

I was attending an open house for my daughter's school and a couple asked the teacher to speed things along so they could get home on time to watch American Idol. I commented that I have never seen it. They were astounded that an American had never seen it--that it was part of our culture and that I was un-american for not watching it.

People actually try, I put on mute because I hate the shit they sing, and they typically sing like shit.

The people who are just attention whores, and should be euthanized I'll watch because it makes me feel better to not be them.

After the above are weeded out, the show has no further value.

say, it's not a violent response to the ** establishment, merely a LINK to the truth; anarchistic lite.

I believe it is funded by public donations and advertisements.

We subscribe to DIRECTV, if not for that, I might not have ever heard of it.

Their best program is "Democracy Now", hosted by Amy Goodman. (IMHO)

i appreciate your taking the time to answer. i think my aunt has directv, i'll have to check with her! i ADORE amy goodman. i used to live in new jersey, and always tried to catch her show in the mornings on pacifica. i really miss it since moving to west palm beach. i've started to enjoy rachel maddow, though. i like her sense of humor.

there seems to be a concerted effort to keep folks ignorant in west palm beach. news of any type is hard to come by. air america goes away at dusk, and randi's show is kind of chopped up when it's aired here. also, no mike malloy! i miss him, he rages just like i do.

i have a prehistoric computer and no ipod, so that isn't an option either. the worst thing is, most people who live here don't seem to care that they are uninformed. i can see why there's so much election fraud here.

65. I've never watched it, and won't

I won't watch the other "freak show" programs that the major television outlets offer to the carnival huckster enamored public, either.

67. I love Barry Manilow and he was on an episode in 2005
I could stand only 15 minutes of the show, until I changed the channel.

I don't know what people see in it.

I only go for two "Reality" shows: Cops and Americas Wildest Police Chases.

For some reason I just love those shows.

I hate all those silly shows....

Don't watch much tv at all anymore - except the occasional History Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic type of program.

Oh yeah - and hockey! :)

81. Never have! Never watched any of the "reality shows"
I honest to god question the intelligence of people who do.
Flame away. I could care less. I watch TV to be entertained. To be taken to another place where imagination runs wild.

If I want reality, I watch the Discovery Channel. Love me some Mythbusters....

85. Never seen a whole episode of it...
or one of Survivor, or just about any other reality TV.

Not that I can't see the entertainment value, it's just not my kind of thing.

I did like the first season of The Amazing Race, but the concept got tired after that first go-around

87. I've never watched it. Don't even really know what it is.
I've never watched any of them. But I sometimes have heard about them on the "news". Amazing.

Reality TV takes over the "news". News about television about pretend reality. I stopped watching the news, stopped my subscription to news magazines and newspapers, stopped listening to NPR. I feel much better now.

Its fluff that takes up too much of America's thinking.
A glorified version of "Ted Mack's Original Amatuer Hour". :puke:

Survivor OR The Real World OR any of those other low-budget excuses for TV programs.

I watched Who Wants to Be a Millionaire once, only because an acquaintance appeared on it. (He won $250,000).

101. I have never
and have no interest. Have not watched Canadian Idol, either.

I watched 5 minutes of Survivour. B-o-r-i-n-g. And it was the big "season finale" - it was the first one.

I flicked on some model reality show once for a millisecond. Wow, what utter trash.
