Cheerleaders? They've got Cheerleaders now?
The last two Cubs vs. Marlins series that I've watched, I've seen Marlins cheerleaders out there. Skimpy little outfits and silver pom poms and rah-rah and what the HELL?

Is it just me or is this just.....Wrong?

11. That's what I thought....
It's just wrong on SO many levels. And apparently, the Marlins aren't the only ones who've done it. Expos. Blue Jays. Angels. Pads. Can't remember who else but...

Damn it, it's Wrong.

WTF are they thinking? Mascots great! No way should any baseball team have cheerleaders. :(

Should be, though. Needs to be on the banned substances list. Steroids and silicone, #1 and #2.

33. Not me. Never me.
First, I've never been to Wrigley, and I don't have that good an arm.

Second...players are off limits. No one should EVER throw anything at any player under any circumstances.

Cheerleaders, on the other hand, are fair game.

:D

(Jones has gotten off to a slow start...but I've heard good things and I'm glad we got him. It's just gonna be a matter of time. And he really does need to watch that getting doubled off business...but...it happens.)

I agree with you about not throwing stuff at players. I think you Cubs fans will eventually be happy with Jacque. I miss him so much.

I'm blaming Dallas. Those Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders started the whole thing. And Dallas is in Texas.

And we all know who Else is from Texas...

So...that's who's fault it is.

29. Of course it's fundamentally wrong
In baseball, the fans have always been the cheerleaders. I've done it myself a hundred times. We don't need no steenking cheerleaders.

And anyway, cheerleaders don't lead cheers. They're just Shiny Things.

Besides, WTF would they cheer?

Ho, ho! Hey, hey! We want us a double play! Ho, ho...

Baseball is so BOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRINGH.......

I'm not surprised they need gimmicks. The minor leagues use gimmicks, why should the majors be any different.

Only golf is more boring to watch than Baseball.

39. Oh goodie,
let's turn baseball into something cheap and tawdry with having half naked women shaking their butts and jiggling their tits during a baseball game. MLB is going the way of the NFL and the NBA. I'm with the purists here. Some things just don't go together.

40. That's crap.
I love baseball (I probably go to 80% of the Mariners' home games), and one of the reasons I love it so much is that they don't have cheerleaders. I can actually go to a community sporting event and not be constantly reminded that our society loves to objectify women. Seriously, I love going to football and, to a lesser extent, basketball games, but whenever the cheerleaders/dance team members come out I feel embarassed for my gender. When they have shirtless male cheerleaders, chosen solely for their looks, dancing around in ass-tight pants and flirting shamelessly with the players and fans, then I'll shut up about cheerleading being sexist.

I'm going to send a pre-emptive letter to Howard Lincoln and tell him that I'm boycotting if I see a single pom-pom out on the field.
