Oprah just said that based upon recently declassfied documents it is likely that the Allies knew of Auschwitz as early as 1942.....many Americans are of the notion that the US fought WW II not only because the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor but to save the Jews of Europe. NOTHING could be farther from the truth. At the onset of WW II Father Coughlin, an antisemitic priest, had an audience the size of Rush Limbaugh's at his peak. It was not uncommon to find ads that openly said "Christians only."
Not an easy Oprah episode to watch.
Too bad humanity has not learned because if we had then something would be done about Darfur.
