Given a low credit report. |
|
I need to rant a moment.
The flat I live in has gone up for sale. The big money speculators are bailing, with the small fry flippers are swarming in. So I've been looking for another flat. A couple days ago, I applied for one. They just called to say my credit report had a low score. I've never used credit. Always paid by check, cash or debit card. I have never incurred any debts. I'm gainfully employed. Lived at the current flat for 6 1/2 years. Now I'm being penalized for living responsibly. They say the only way I could rent would be to have a co-signer. I'm 50 years old and am the only relative I have. Not some kid fresh out of college. Now I'm wondering if the only place I can live in is some slum.
Merde.

1. It seems that the term "living responsibly" has changed from |
|
living within your means to living within your credit limit.
It seems we are worthless if we do not owe someone money.

5. And worthless if we do. |

We've seen the *cough* "reforms" taking place.
Damned either way.

Unfortunately, your credit's probably low because you haven't used much. It's such a wretched freaking game, the credit system. I'm sorry. I know how much it sucks to be limited by your credit situation.

3. I have the same problems...no credit = bad credit. Tough shit, I still |
|
refuse to get into credit debt.

4. Tried something years ago. |

Folk say get a credit card. Buy a couple things, then pay it right off. Just to establish credit. So I applied and was rejected because of age. An 18 year old without job nor education could get one but not me.
I appealed the flat decision based on my how frugal and responsible I've been living. I even offered to show them my bank statement. My savings are probably more than most residents there have collectively. Though I'm not optimistic.
It's depressing that I'll have live somewhere else with a frathouse atmosphere or crooked condo speculators.
