Can a fully lined dress be altered
By a seamstress, not by me. I've never actually worn it. I bought it snug and it stayed snug until recently.

Now, the top part is way too big. There are darts in the front and back which will need to be taken in. The sides might also need to be taken in. The dress is sleeveless.

Can this dress be saved?

1. I would think a skilled seamstress would be able to still
salvage it, no problem.

2. Yes.
Much easier to take in than to let out. I've done it many times. :)

4. Good question. I have a similar problem with a fully-lined
vintage dress. The waist and hips are fine, but the bodice is too large, and it also has front and back darts.

5. most likely yes.
get recommendations for a good alterations person. Don't just assume the dry cleaners person will be good.

6. yes.
my mother is a seamstress, and had to do one for me last summer for a wedding. It's a bit of work but it can be done. Find a professional though.

7. Absolultely. I had our tailor alter my daughter's prom gown.
She did an amazing job. Find someone with a great, not good reputation and the dress will look as good as new.

8. Thanks everyone
I'll look for someone. I'd hate to waste this dress. If I wore it as is, I would need to stuff my bra, and if you knew me, you'd think that was funny.
