1. Keep it simple, direct, and polite
Remember the Doctor's ego (most are huge), be specific (minimize the chit chat)...make a list before hand if you think you'll forget something important. These are tips which my sister taught me- to deal with doctors better. It has helped over the years.

2. The confirmation?
Are your wife's girly bits being dedicated to the Catholic Church?

15. I was joking
I wasn't sure what you meant by confirmation, and the Catholic version was what first came to mind, but I figured it out by reading the posts below.

Congratulations, though!!

6. Pregnancy, right?
And if not I apologize for confusing you with someone else.

They'll have way more info for you than you'll know what to do with. Generally a huge packet of info about what is and isn't safe during pregnancy, info about the hospital/birth facility, info about what tests you can have, etc.

8. Well, it could have been confirmation
of a loss, too. I was a bit hesitant to talk about pregnancy if that was the case.

9. Is it supposed to look like Elliott?
:bounce:

Mostly just make it light. BTW your role in this is OVER other than to get her to and from appointments or to just be supportive. Their goal here is basically to keep the "host pod" (as I called my wife) healthy. They really aren't all that particular about the fetus at least not as much as you would expect. They couldn't give less of a damn about you and your wife will feel the same the second she delivers. That is just how it is.

Are you going to find out the sex? We skipped on the amniocentusis (sp?) because we didn't need to know if it was going to be "normal". Ultrasound is enough.

Are you going to St.Mary's? We did they are really good.

11. Dear God, don't take advice from matcom.
He is a prevert.

Okay. Ask this.

Where do you deliver?
What if I can't get you, should I see the other people in the practice?
At what point do you allow the administration of the epidural (very important if wifey is a wimp like me)
How do you handle off hour calls, questions?

and assorted other like that.

Who are you going to BTW? I went to Virginia Physicians 2x. They were awesome. One baby at Chip, one baby at JW. Great both times.

14. You are going to love them.
Prosser and Tuckey-Laurus delivered my daughter. Awesome experience.

Mark K-something delivered my son, but he left to practice in Vermont. They are all great. I saw all of them at one point or another during both pregnancies.

In fact, Prosser had Reutinger deliver her babies.
