We are getting ready to dig for our new house. I have picked out a lot of stuff already but this will be a big help.

7. Yep. Prairie cottage built in 1905.

It looks small, but has 3700 sq ft heated. The kitchen is the next immediate project. Looks like we will go with soapstone counter tops and a soapstone farm sink with a butcher block counter top for the center island. A local artist will paint or faux finish the existing cabinets (with new doors and drawer faces).
I finally abandoned the idea of a Blue Star range today, and will go with a Wolf 36" dual-fuel 6-burner range slotted into the island. Ventilation will be a 42" wide Wolf hood with around 1200 CFM sucking power.
We are going with a Fisher-Paykel 2-drawer dishwasher, a KitckenAid French door re-fridge, a KitchenAid ice maker, and a Sub-Zero wine storage unit. A KitchenAid Ultima-Cook Speed oven will be wall mounted in the existing cabinetry.


We will probably go with an end-grained mixed butcher block for the island.
