Barbie fans--'fess up: What was your favorit outfit for her?
Believe it: my sister passed down her Barbie and the clothes so I had that spectacular black evening gown with the tulle at the bottom, plus the gloves and shoes.

Mine also had a spiffy beach getup and the first Barbie convertible.

Alas, I passed then to the neighbor's daughter who had no sense of style whatsoever...

5. astronaut/bomb squad barbie
it is a little known fact that barbie was both the first woman in space AND to ever serve on a bomb squad...

1. swipe barbie from best friend's older sister
2. firmly attach barbie to the illegal firework of choice (we had to go to North Carolina to get them)
3. light firework and run like hell
4. hilarity ensues

8. I remember that black dress.
But I liked the stewardess (excuse me, flight attendant) outfit best.

9. INTERMISSION! A song about a man obsessed with his daughter's Barbie doll.
"Barbie" by Stuart Davis, from the album "Nomen Est Numen". This is my favorite album of his, by the way. Not a bad track on it.

I bought you for my daughter's birthday
but I'm keeping you for myself
I just couldn't imagine you wasting away
from utter neglect in her dollhouse hell
I peeled off all your tags
and pulled you out of the bright pink box
I knew I had to hide my fantasy bride
in the drawer beneath my socks
Now my family goes to sleep and we go downstairs
so no one will discover what the young lovers share

Chorus:
I pretend your knees and elbows bend
and you're all anatomically correct
with a brain above that plastic neck

But I get so, so angry when you just sit and stare
like some inanimate bimbo
there's gouges and marks all over your body
cause I've let my nasty temper go
You're not as pretty since I broke your foot
when I threw you against the wall
I've burned you with my matches, razor cuts and scratches
and you forget and forgive it all
Believe me when I say I'm gonna leave my wife
and find a magic doctor that'll bring you to life

Chorus

10. Ah, that black dress was the height of glamor
to this little girl living in the middle of nowhere Illinois. I wanted a Barbie and I wanted her in that dress.

12. I think that outifit was called "Solo in the Spotlight".
And if I am remembering correctly, it came with a microphone. It was my favorite Barbie outfit. There was also another really stunning outfit-a gold brocade strapless sheath dress with a matching coat with fur collar and cuffs. That was another fave of mine.

13. My grandmother made a gorgeous white wedding gown for her, crochet'd by
hand. Delicate and fantasic, lacy and lovely. fit like a glove, and I paired it with a veil my mom made, and a cape from a princess outfit when it was 'cold' on her wedding day. I wish I had a picture of that dress, it was fucking spectacular!

14. This is Ms. OR
My favorite Barbie outfit was a blue and green toile ball gown. It was very formal and had black heels that went with it. It also had a mink stole that I would not let her wear. My Mom would not allow me to have or play with a Ken or G.I. Joe doll, so my Barbie remained a virgin all her life.
