For Those People Who Want "Galactica" to Become a Series....
It's looking like the odds are pretty much in favor of that happening.

'Galactica' 2nd Stage Blasts Off
Wed December 10, 2003 09:34 PM ET

By Andrew Wallenstein
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - The second night of the Sci Fi Channel miniseries "Battlestar Galactica" rocketed past the first Tuesday to deliver the cable channel's highest-rated program of the year.

"Galactica," starring Edward James Olmos, gathered 4.5 million total viewers, surpassing the 3.9 million who watched Monday's opening of the four-hour miniseries. Tuesday's tally gave Sci Fi not only enough ratings power to blast past the WB Network and UPN in primetime but provided the third-highest-ranked program in the station's history.

I taped it off, but I haven't see it yet, so I have no opinion on the topic yet.

1. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the saga...
I was in my early 20's when the first series was on. I was an addict for the show. Looking back now, the shows look kinda cheesy, but I'm still a big fan. I hope they can keep the same theme running without trying to over-do the production as hollywood tends to.

3. agreed
I was very impressed with it. Very good human stories..good tension...it left me wanting more.

I was working at a locked institution for juvenile delinquent girls when the first series came out in the 1970s. They thought I was a geek because I always watched it. Now my 16 year old daughter (not a juvenile delinquent, BTW!) thinks I'm a geek for watching this version.

Some things never change. :7

5. I liked it
I thought it was surprisingly good and had lots of potential. It looked to me like it was going to be more in the Farscape mode -- that is, mainly character development rather than action, and where the characters aren't always either noble and self-sacrificing or evil and greedy. Especially since they hijacked one of Farscape's coolest plot devices, the ambivalent manifestation of Scorpius in Crichton's brain.

6. yeah, I noticed the Scorpius thing, too
and boy, was I shocked at who the last cylon was...I thought it was going to be the chief mechanic guy, her boyfriend. In any case, I was extremely pleased at how well done it was and thought casting a woman as Starbuck was also well done.

4. Sure, but what about Riverworld?
They totally mishandled the two hour pilot, but I was still looking forward to a series. Any news on that?

I haven't been this excited about a show in a long time. They far exceeded my expectations.

We had a discussion about it yesterday here and I was wondering why we didn't hear from you!

Would definitely like to hear your thoughts about it after you watch it.

Yesterday's discussion for those interested:

9. Great, I hope they don't F--- it up
I was thinking that it might be cool if they stayed with the two hour format and came out with 12 new shows a year instead of 22-24 hour long shows a year.

10. I'd watch it as a series
I watched the mini one. It was B-ish, but still fun. :)

Definitely to be taken with a grain of salt, though. I mostly pretended I'd never seen the old show. That helped a bit. *g*

11. Overall I liked it, but...
I thought that they could have made it another night and added more special effects footage of the battle scenes. I am a special effects junkie, and was disappointed in that aspect of it.
