Bush ignored them, of course.

(after they issued their report, a lot of people who'd been on the fence about climate change were convinced ... they'd been waiting for an organization even bigger than the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to weigh in, and the NAS report was considered by many to be the signal that something really was going on out there.)
