So does anybody in the USA make an air conditioner these days?
I just went shopping for a room air conditioner and I was amazed that they were all built in China. Home Depot had Goldstar and LG, both made in China. Wal-Mart had Haier models built in China. Lowes had Frigidaire models built in China. After that I gave up and just bought the a Frigidaire one at Lowes.

It's still amazing and sad to me that it's supposedly "cheaper" to build an 80lb air conditioner in China and then ship pallets of them over here. The packaging it was in for the long journey was fairly elaborate with a box that had a lot of foam glued onto it.

One thing I'm very glad about though is that the owners manual let me know that "rushing air" is a normal sound that comes from the vents.

1. Thank you so much! You spelled "pallets" right. I am SICK of people
spelling that word "palettes."

Or worse, doing the reverse.

7. Kenmore doesn't make anything.
They have other manufacturers make the prodcuts and slap the Kenmore name on them.

8. And Kenmore is exclusive to Sears.
They've been makers of nothing for a long time.

9. Ay-yup.
I do product liability work, and I've got a big list showing the manufacturer of each Kenmore product by model number.

5. If they do - don't tell Tony Blair.
He'd get them shut down quicker than you can say Jack Robinson.

4. When I had to buy a new A/C
I paid extra to buy an American brand: DuKane

I see from the pic that you were looking for a room a/c; mine is for a central a/c system. :)

6. I like how they talk about vibration...
Yup, when there's a problem, the unit is just fine. It's the wall that's the problem! Replace the wall!
