I hate my mortgage company. Who gave these bloodsuckers more power?
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 03:30 PM by Botany
Answer bush and the go along congress.

My monthly payment is 605.00 (I had to go and get a new mortgage to pay off
an ex)

I have to the 16th of the month to make a payment .... I have never failed to make
a payment ever. Sometimes I have been past the 16th but never past 30 days.

I always pay above and beyond what I owe ..... $700.00/month is what I shoot for.

But on the 2nd of every month they start calling .... 5 to 6 times a day .... I let the machine
screen calls.

I work, I pay my bills, I try to do well by son (11), I help out my folks (70s) and yet I get treated as if
I am some sort of criminal by the company I am a customer of.

Sorry to rant by one of their calls just interrupted my day.

3. Failure to pay ON TIME can hurt you, in more ways than one
They charge you higher interest the next time you go for a loan, they add fees, and so forth.

If you can manage it, put that payment on DIRECT DEBIT from your bank account. Just don't overspend and bounce...

14. 3 lates in one year = credit problem
plus, if I understand the main post correctly, a 5% late charge each month on the entire payment more than 16 days overdue, which normally also applies to the portion that is escrow, making the current rate of interest much, much higher than the 6.25% the poster states.

4. They (and any company that deals with money) treats us like that.
Presumed guilty, fuck the notion there was an accident or oversight (even if it's their fault).

9. I had to go to the idiot bank 3 times for paying EARLY!!!!
I took a 2nd mortgage on a house in Cleveland for the down payment on my Florida home. The payment was due around the 21st or 22nd of the month, and they'd send me a statement around the 10th each month.

For 2 years, I paid the monthly payments online, before the statements came, and with some additional money toward's the principle. Then they changed their policy. Anything I would send in before the statement was issued was applied to the principle, and they still wanted the payment by the due date.

Then they started charging me late fees. It took about 3 months and 2 heated conversations with 2 different vice-presidents to get that mess straighted out.

10. I'm getting terrorized by Columbia Gas. They shut me off
two weeks ago for a non-existant leak. Now they want me to come "up to code". It's a couple of grand. I'm changing to electric everything. Screw the bastards.

12. My Mortgage Co...never calls, gives me a 15 day grace period
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 03:56 PM by LaPera
and even if I'm a couple days late of the grace period no calls and no late fee...(once my payment online didn't get there and they sent me a letter in the mail wondering where my payment was).

I used to hate them when they first bought my load a few years ago...they were changing me late and all kinds of fees...But no more.

I always throw an extra grand a year at them towards my principle and at the very least, $50 bucks a month extra towards principle with my online payment...

They are always trying to get me to go to bi-weekly payments though, right after I throw that grand at them...but I don't want to toss five hundred bucks their way to do it...I'll just do it on my own and use that five C's towards my principle...same with the refinance charges they want ...fuck that...everything extra they offer to change, cost me money, so I ignore them, instead put it towards my principle.

My Mortgage Co...never calls, gives me a 15 day grace period
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 08:45 PM by LaPera
and even when I'm a couple days late of the grace period no calls and no late fee...

I had a grace period till the 15th..never a call...they went bankrupt 2x...just kept switching between the 2 names for the company. This last time..there is suddenly no grace period if I have gotten calls 2 days before the dam bill is due and they screwed up some paper work so I owed 20 for my house insurance...they called me like 15 times in a row one day over it. It was there screw up and when I got ticked enough to pick up the phone a few times they screamed at me like i was 3 month behind or something. I freaking hate them The guy who does the insurance collection lost my business for them. I switched. they did something like this to my mother also so she switched..the same asshole was doing the collecting from both of us...he must loose alto of customers for them.

21. I don't think my mortgage co will go bankrupt...at least not until
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 04:19 PM by LaPera
the balloon pops, the inevitable oil currency changes, Bush's trillions in debt to China come due, the housing bubble bursts, etc. etc...

Believe it or not my mortgage co. is Citimortgage, I had a local loan until Citi bought it... they bought my loan over three years ago, except for the first six month's they've been great...

My fear is some mortgage company like yours buying my loan from Citimortgage.

What's the name of your mortgage co. what a fucking nightmare...

Get caller ID and don't ever answer the phone for any "unknown" calls...I don't even answer 800 calls or long distance calls if I don't recognize the number... when I just want to be left alone for any reason!

22. Why don't you just set it up for automatic draft?
That would solve the problem and be more convenient. You can write a separate check for extra payment if you want.

23. When We Were In PA,...
...We had Washington Mutual (formerly Fleet) and they were THE WORST!

The worst example was the 3 month we had to fight with them over weather our assumeable was, in fact, assumeable. They'd bought the mortgage after we'd refinanced. One of their favorite tricks was to call my house when they knew I was at work. AWFUL people.
