I should have a foster dog in a few hours. |
|
I'm taking part in a pit bull rescue. Apparently, the owners were evicted and they left their dog tied up in the yard. Neighborhood kids have been feeding him, but he has no shelter. The neighbors don't want to call animal control, because pit bulls are almost always put down, but they also don't want the dog to be used as bait by some thugs.
So I'm going down there with the person who told me about it and getting the dog. The neighbors can let us in the yard, so it should be pretty easy. The dog is very friendly. A year old white & tan pit named Doughboy.

I fostered a puppy once and I think it was the hardest thing I ever did to let her go. I  and  for weeks.

5. People like you make a big difference! |

 I wish more people would take the time and energy to be a foster "parent" for an animal that would not otherwise have a chance. My two dogs are shelter dogs, as were the other two we had before them (may they rest in peace). One of the dogs we have now was two days away from being put down because she had been at the shelter so long that they needed to make room. A kind soul sponsored her, which bought her more time, and we were lucky enough to find her the day we went in. One of our other shelter dogs had died (we had to euthanize her because of inoperable cancer), and although we knew we couldn't replace our other dog, we had room in our house and in our lives for another needy dog. Thanks to the sponsor, we were able to find a loving, wonderful dog to adopt. :)
Thanks to you and all others who foster and sponsor unwanted pets. You are very special indeed! :loveya:

Post pictures, please. They are so cute. Watch out for its ferocious tongue. I've seen them just about lick a person to death. What a mis-understood breed. :-)

I have done a dog rescue or two in the past. I am a sucker for them. You are right about them being put down quickly. I hope you find him a good home.

Right at the base of the tail. Also, pit bulls I have known liked to have their ears rubbed.
And don't forget the pictures!
