A rare view of Irwin Allen's "Time Tunnel" (pic)
This is the first view of the device in episode number one. I don't believe it was ever seen again from this perspective. From the brief opening "tour" of the facility it appears as if much of the complex's design was ripped off from Forbidden Planet. Most of it was never seen again.

Thought you'd enjoy the trivial and useless screen capture shot.

1. My last proctoscopy video looked just like that.
Time Tunnel was just before my time. I only remember snatches. I've seen some reruns, but the pilot and first episodes would be worth seeing. Is it out on DVD?

6. I don't know if it's on DVD or not
I recently torrented the first five episodes. Right now I'm torrenting the entire Lost In Space series. Can't wait for The Great Vegetable Rebellion!

3. Thanks!
I loved that show. They never ended up in some boring old town where nothing happens, no. It was always stuff like Abe Lincoln or the Titanic.

There's something about "state-of-the-art" 60s sci-fi shows that I find so much fun to watch.

You don't recall one from that era starring MASH's Mike Farrell, do you? Saw it at a matinee once, and I can't seem to track it down since then.

4. That would be The Questor Tapes
A failed series pilot written by Gene Roddenberry before Star Trek was written. It's hard to find.

10. It's true- I AM good.
I have the paperback novellization in a box somewhere- I used to read it from time to time. Excellent story, and fantastic movie if you can catch it. It's been a few years since I've seen it.

Recommendations RE what specifically?

11. Recommendations along the lines of
Questor Tapes, Time Tunnel, the Gary Seven episode of Star Trek...

Earth-bound sci-fi that's not too, too deep, that just smells of the 60s...I guess.

No worries, just throwing it out there.

12. Go straight to the source.

Start with Forbidden Planet- all really good sci-fi springs from it, including (many say) Star Trek. After that there are such classics as The (Original) War Of The Worlds, The Day The Earth Stood Still, The Day Of The Triffids, Village Of The Damned, Colossus- The Forbin Project, Farenheit 451, When Worlds Collide (a most excellent five star recommend!!!), The Andromeda Strain, and those are just a few to start.

Here's a good site to stir the memories: http://www.internationalvoting.com/int3/poll.cgi?pid=27-26&novote=1&print=1

5. Irwin Allen...ah.. VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA...
That was good..I thought this was better...
I loved The SEAVIEW, THE FLYING SUB...and the various monsters they would fight with their
electrified hull each week. The theme music was awesome too.

15. Actually shes a bit young to remember that far back...
The young lady to which you refer is 22 years old, and was probably not even a spec in her daddys eye when Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea came on. Though interesting enough, she has a song out called
"U boat". Her name is Ai Otsuka, and she is my favorite singer. She is Japanese...as is all her music.
I am not..but am learning Japanese...so I have been exposed to alot of Japanse popular music.

But I am glad you noticed her. She is quite cute..or "Kawaiii" as the Japnese say. I on the other hand am male and a wee bit older...old enough to have seen "Howdy Doodie" as a kid. Thats as much as I will say. LOL!

Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 10:57 PM by scoey1953
Do Itashimashite... I can't imagine what goes on in a 22 year old girls head...but I like her music.
She writes her own stuff..she draws, she writes stories, poetry, been playing piano since she was 3 years old, and to think she once said, "Well, if my music career falls though,at least I am qualified to be a Kindergaarten teacher". No way will she ever teach, she's on her way to fame and fortune.

18. Sounds like she keeps a bit of zen about her
So do I.

(Note: I do know the yin/yang is Chinese in origin, but when it comes down to it so is the root of zen.)

14. I liked that they lways ended up with people who could speak
modern enlish....

And they always got mixed up with historical figures....

And were able to figure out in three or four minutes exactly where they were....
