Good Thursday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a good Hump Day yesterday and now that we're through it, the weekend is closer than ever! :bounce: Holey moley time flies, doesn't it?

I decided to wait until Friday to get my new camera! I'll savor the delicious anticipation a couple more days!

As you are well aware, there has been a LOT of talk the past few days about gay marriage. Bills getting presented to vote on to amend our constitution banning it, even when there's NO chance in hells of it passing. It was an obvious ploy by the you-know-whats to drum up support for the upcoming elections. :eyes: Ridiculous! Didn't you know that the day Greekspeak and I got married, nuclear winter would promptly ensue and all marriages now on the books would be null and void? :eyes: Gladly, it was re-soundly defeated.

And now, Thursday begins! So let's get this new day started, shall we?! :bounce:

39. It does! Good cheer all round! Anyway anyway anyway anyway,
That was the other thing! We have another FReeper around! Can't call them out, but they appeared in R/T and started talking about how lovely the people who take the Bible literally are, and how not outlawing (x,y,z) hurts the left et cetera. Sounded reasonable, then started up about the 'militant atheists' controlling the dems. Then it clicked. Got a severe case of the "I'm a persecuted Christian" complex, too.

Fun fun fun. Will hold semi-rational conversations for a while, then flamebait. I lurve toasting trolls! (As per my sig) (Only after there is a wide consensus that they are, in fact, trolls, and I only flamebait in ways trolls go nuts over too)

Soooooo evil a sense of humour, soooooo nice a person usually, so when fReeps are detected, I bait them with extreme care & accuracy, to ensure a nice, even explosion of the head.

Keeping DU safe, & clean. You never know, next they'll allow them evul gays in here! *shock* *gasp*
(And sarcasm, of course)

On the upside, working out a system of morality from the laws of physics is going rather well, in fact, I seem to be making on hell of a moral system. More on that later......

So, hump day is over, weekend soon. For me that means STUVAC. Which means exas are soon! OH NO!

87. What's the legal position in Oz?
We've recently got civil partnerships - they provide all of the legal benefits of marriage without using the term (my guess is that this was to get them in without much noise, then in a few years they'll all be turned into civil marriages). The Act wasn't even controversial - a large number of Conservatives voted in favour of it in the Commons and the Lords.

I don't automatically see John Howard being a great fan of gays though.

93. The ACT introduced a civil unions bill, got it passed simply, but now
the federal government squashed it. You are quite right - John Howard is NOT a fan of gay marriage. However, in some years time, it should become legal, but it may take a while.

I heard it in the news that the bill didn't go through. Boy, am I am glad to hear that. It is so ridiculous. I can't udnerstand why people feel threatend by two men or two women being married to each other.

Tomorrow the World Cup starts. My friend and I think about going to a public viewing of the first game. Germany vs. Costa Rica. I just hope the German team doesn't embarrass itself.

40. It's much the same here.
Everybody (apart from me) seems to be obsessed with this damn football tournament.

Yesterday the Prime Minister had a special annoucement that he's going to fly the St. George Cross from Downing Street during England's matches - it doesn't even have a flag-pole :eyes:

Our streets are also covered with flags, they're selling really cheap ones to be flown from cars - which predictably fall off in a couple of days and sit in the gutter for days.

98. Morning MissH!
Sounds like that's quite a sports agenda for Germany! I think watching a REAL LIVE WORLD CUP soccer game would be fun, although I really don't watch much soccer. There seems to be much more excitement at the game itself, much more energy, than watching on TV. Do you get off of work again?

54. You probably haven't heard of the new piece
but it's a fascinating story.

It's actually a new piece by Bach - Alles mit Gott a strophic sacred aria for soprano and continuo.

Nobody knew it existed, but then a little over a year ago a scholar was looking through an old archive in Germany and found a manscript - the hand-writing looked like that of Bach, and so a load of musicologists studied it, and now it's been recognised as a genuine new work of his. Pretty amazing given that it was written in 1713.

Even though I've got no actual connection with schools, it's easy to spot because the traffic first thing in the morning is so much lighter.

 I get three "use them or lose them" days off every quarter from the one job so I use them for sure. Then I get annual leave from both jobs that I save for my actual vacations or use in little chunks for urgent needs that arise (like if something comes up that I absolutely have to do). I'm going to end up taking time off for my upcoming move, for example.

84. Good Morning Clintmax!
Since you brought up the gay marriage bill I have to tell someone about
the dream I had last night and I wondered if someone should get a toaster or just some toast.

To set this up my very first boyfriend determined that he was gay (years ago of course) and he hooked up with a dear friend (our families were friends since we were little)who realized that he too was gay. I have a very good relationship with these two men and I love them dearly.

Well in this dream they asked me to leave my husband and become the third partner and I said yes. There was much more to the dream and but I can't say what!! So what do you think, do I get a toaster or just toast!

I am going to have to call them today and let them know about it! Remembering it made my day.

Anyway I am happy the weekend is almost here and I know you'll love your camera. Can we be the guinea pigs and get some more photos of you? :7 :bounce: :hi: :loveya:

the vaunted Librul and Homersexual monoliths that all of the Crazy Right seem to be so frightened about. I mean seriously, if Liberals controlled everything, and the Homosexual Agenda is so strong, then how the hell did we end up with this President, this Congress and this Supreme Court? :)

Things are going along. Bit of a sleepless night. I really don't have anything to do right now, so I'm out of whack with my sleeping schedule. I need to get back in the groove again soon. Probably here in the next day or so. Been doing a solid amount of writing lately. I need to sit down and bust out my serious stuff though. Just have to buckle down and do it. :)

I have a thread that made the greatest page this morning. Here it is if you want to check it out. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1378467

118. Those are the questions to ask, Man!
"....how the hell did we end up with this President, this Congress and this Supreme Court?" I've been asking the same questions for a while too!

Sleeping patterns can get screwed up pretty easily. The best thing for them is to go to bed every single night at the same time and get up the next morning at the same time.

133. aahh yes
easier said than done. :)

I find I can only sleep properly when I have a pretty strict schedule I have to follow. Other than that I am all over the map.

92. Morning Clint! Morning All!
What lively conversation here in your morning thread. I'm just upset that our politicos are wasting so much time and energy on such nonsense. Most of the time I'm so ashamed of this administration I just want to cry.

Oh that note, you are of strong character by waiting to purchase your camera. I don't make decisions like that lightly, but when I do, I just want to act upon them right away. I commend your reserve.

99. Good Morning, Miss SimplyF!
:hi::hug:
It HAS been lively in here today! I'm glad you're here now! The whole bill thing was a ploy and everyone knows it. Too bad they had to spend so much time and energy like that.

I'm usually the same way...once I decide to get something, I just go do it...this time though, I'll have lots more money for more accessories for it if I wait until Friday!

111. Very commendable
Then you've got the whole weekend to figure out all the bells and whistles. I swear they make each model slightly different with slightly different features to FORCE us to real those manuals. I've only scratched the surface as to functions and features on the digi that I have at work.

Btw - this is my 2,000th post, and no offense to you, but I'm dedicating it to Politically_Wrong who seems to only lurk around lately. Maybe this will get him to pop in once in a while.

102. Good Thursday Morning to one and all, hope everyone is.............

...getting ready for the weekend that is fast approaching.:bounce:

I switched over to Qwest recently for my phone service and answered all their questions including a message phone that I could be reached at other than my home phone. Very nice neighbors allowed me to give out their phone number with the agreement that it would be a message phone only in case I couldn't be reached at home. Great!! Not so great!!:spank: Yesterday I got three calls from Qwest - at my neighbors house - and NOT ONCE did my phone ring with someone from Qwest at the other end. My neighbors dealt with the first two calls by suggesting the caller try my home because they knew I was home.:banghead: The third time they came and got me to deal with the issue.:grr: Can you even begin to imagine the riot act I read them after telling the caller off and then coming home and calling "customer service"??:banghead: Believe, they will NEVER make that mistake with me again.:grr:

Let's hope the people are a little smarter that you all deal with.

It's amazing how stupid some companies are! I hope they got their records fixed while you were on the phone with them! We have our share of stupid people at our store too, so you're not alone.

132. Between 5 and 6 is what I get a night.
But some people need more than that. Are you going back to bed for a while or are you up for the day?

:o

I can survive on that for some time, but I much prefer 7 or 8. :D

I'm considering going back to bed for a couple hours. Yes, I probably will.

Which I've cured by going back to sleep.

I was called for an editing position, and had a phone interview. I'm hoping the hiring manager will be calling me soon for an in person interview.
