Do you feel your life has a purpose? If so, what is it?

1. Because my mother insisted on having a second child... |

Even though her doctor opposed it. He said a third child would kill her, so she stopped there.
I know this isn't the answer you wanted, but....
Not sure what my purpose is yet. Still on a voyage of discovery.

diaphram slipped out of position.
My mother was only 18 years old and I interrupted her college education. It was not good timing.
I've tried to live as if there were a purpose -- a little laughter here and there, have fun and don't take it all too seriously. A couple of kids, and five precious grandchildren.
All in all, it's been a pretty good life! I'm 67, as I don't have as far to go as I've already been, I regret.
Except for a broken bonded filling that came out of my tooth about four hours ago. What the heck? I'll try to get to the dentist next week.
In peace,

Purpose? We all have a purpose, this much I believe. Things happen for a reason--I believe this, though I don't believe in any higher power, but I do believe that fate has dealt us a hand. I think we also have free will and we can alter the outcome of that hand, but we can't obliterate completely what happens to us and to others.

6. I was born because there was this guy who played guitar |
|
and he was playing at this concert...and he met this girl who was there with her friend.
And after the concert, they started talking and the three of them went to this cafe. And the guy and the girl fell in love, so the girl went to the guy's parents' house with him, and met his mother, and his father who was a WW2 vet. And they both really liked the girl.
Three years later, the girl's friend died. Two years after that, the guy and the girl got married. And then one day she got pregnant.
And that is why I was born.
My life probably doesn't have a purpose, but I'm hoping that it will at some point in the not-so-distant future.

8. Because my parents didn't understand birth control. |
|
4 kids. 4 accidents. I was the first, and I was 25 before I realized that I was concieved before they got married.
Right now, it seems that I'm here mainly to love my son, my fiancee, and a few select others. I hope for more, but that's up to me. And I haven't done anything I'm particularly ashamed of, so that's good.

9. almost nobody is born with a "purpose" in life... |

the exception being those children who are born to parents who already have a child- with cancer- and they have another baby, hoping that the bone marrow will be a match- THOSE kids are about the only ones with a pre-ordained purpose in life.
the rest of us are just here to enjoy the ride...
and pass on our dna in the process, somewhere along the way.

It was a great reason to be born, and led to much happiness.

11. I was born to empathize |
|
I try to understand and not judge. I've found that if you treat people right that they will let the guards down and let you see what's really there. I try to make people feel comfortable in my presence- like they can just relax and be who they really are. That's not always easy when you look like an offensive lineman, but I try to let my compassion surpass my physical presence.
I'm not perfect and I've done my share of hell raising in my time, but now that I'm getting a little older I'm beginning to see what is really important in life. It's not about being a bad ass.
