desert planets are a drag, unless you have a sail barge to tool around them in.

6. There's no culture, for a start
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 12:50 PM by Bryan
Saturday night, you've got three options: getting drunk with redneck moisture farmers, getting a little strange in the fleshpots of Mos Eisley, or buzzing the local Sandtrooper garrison in your 'speeder. It's a shame, too: the indigenous folkways of the "Sandpeople" (a local corruption of the Saltflats Aboriginal Nationalist Dignity movement) are very rich, and worth the trouble it takes to initiate offworlders.

2. They don't make sail barges like they used too.
Back in the early eighties the Hutt-owned sail barge manufacturers started putting the fuel tank directly underneath the forward laser cannon, in order to save on costs. The things had a tendency to explode with the slightest misfire.

3. Not to mention the
sordid history of abuse and exploitation of the native Sandpeople and the taking of their lands by Republic and Empire land speculators selling farms at a much higher rate of profit than they ever paid to the native owners.

5. Tatooine is like that because of global warming.
20 years ago the place looked like Oregon. Unfortunately, the one guy who spoke up about it, Al-Bee-Wan-Gore, is sitting in an Imperial prison.

7. Yeah, things were great until they discovered coal.
Cheaper than nukes, wind, or solar power. That's what everyone said.

8. BUT THERE'S NO HUMIDITY!
Seriously! It can be 190° and it still only feels like 130°! It's a dry heat!
