Got my Deutschland jersey on and a six-pack of Jever at the ready.
You're doing a great service with these threads, by the way. I was content to scold people for posting spoilers. You're actually preempting them. Thanks and PROST!

8. Pretty close...or Klose, as it were |
|
The last play of the half was absolutely amazing, Poles standing around stunned by the speed and teamwork, and the Germans just missing the goal. But, as they say, horshoes and hand grenades. Score remains tied.

15. As an American woman, what I know about football/soccer |
|
you could put on the head of a pin, but that was one exciting game..
Mr. Wonderful got home from work with about 10 mins of regular time left and he once again tried to explain to me what offside is. Mr. Wonderful was born and raised in Ireland, so he knows his stuff when it comes to football. However, he was rooting for Poland because several of the Polish players play for Glasgow Celtic.
Congrats to Germany, but I can commiserate with Poland. That had to be an agonizing loss..
Like I said earlier the atmosphere in the stadium in Dortmund was absolutely electric and the look on the Polish fan faces at the end of the game said it all....

Stop honking out there :grr:
It was a rather good game; very much like a Bundesliga match. The keep it 0-0 into the extra time tactic is probably better for the matches after the preliminary round (start practicing penalties), but OK.
