Poll question: Interesting post I'd read on a different forum... |
|
From a forum discussing TV shows...
Who cares about whether the sexual mores of the time led to a deep-seated fear or not?
We don't know whether Toby had ever loved or not, but I'm forced to wonder whether he simply had never been able to take that love to its fullest, most intimate conclusion. Sex is, contrary to what most people today seem to think about it being just for gratification, one of the few activities in which two minds and two bodies can become one, for however brief a period of time. It's not just the physical pleasure that's important - it's the joining of body and soul. To die without experiencing that kind of connection . . . I can see how that would scare some people.
Put simply, dying as a virgin just plain sucks.
Do you expect to truly die a virgin, as postulated in the aforementioned post?

3. I've said this before and I'll say it again...sex is overrated |
|
There is no floating on air sensation, no "enlightenment", none of that bullshit that humans wished they were capable of achieving...it's called an orgasm, and some people REALLY NEED to get the hell over it.
I've heard people talk about it like it's this life-altering experience....well, :spray: it isn't. The joining of body and soul? Oh give me a break :eyes:

I wasn't particularly impressed with my one and only partner and have been celibate for about 11 years now. I figured if I can't have at least good sex, much less great sex, I'd rather just stick to a decent fantasy life. ;)

8. I've heard this argument before...but why would it matter who you are |
|
with? I mean, isn't the almighty act itself just spectacular?:eyes: It shouldn't matter who you're doing it with, should it? That would make it all about emotion and thats it. I can show plenty of emotion myself, if I wanted to...and nobody else needs to be in the room with me

I've had several monogomous relationships, and for me, the connection with the person improved the sex. A person's experience and willingness to listen, try new things, and be comfortable with his/herself (and boy, this is in my experience the #1 factor in having a great sex life)and their partner makes ALL the difference in the world. I've also had several one night stands and "friends with benefits"-- they did nothing for me because I didn't like the person as I do with someone I love or have feelings for. Many people can just have sex and have GREAT sex-- I'm not one of those people. I need a human connection to take the sex to the next level.

10. I think you're trying too hard to define it. |
|
It can be a sublime experience if you are on the same wavelength as your partner, i.e. no other communication is necessary. You can't be "cerebral" about sex.
