I rescued a baby bird today
I was driving down State Street with my friend and I saw a young Acorn woodpecker in the road.

I pulled over to the side of the road REALLY QUICKLY and ran out into the road after it. There was a man running towards me from the other side of the road and he caught it and gave it to me.

I walked half a block down the street towards a garage sale to see if they had a phone book so I could call the wildlife care center, and there was a dude there who said that he'd taken a baby pigeon to the wildlife care center a few days ago. He said he'd be more than happy to take it there, so we put it in a box and he took it to the wildlife care center for me.

Meanwhile the woodpecker's parents were totally freaking out. I would have let it go and let them take care of it, but it was a busy street and I thought it would get run over. So it probably just needs a day or two to figure out how to fly.

Good times.
