I've never seen one of those before. I'm off to google it!

Edited to add: Yikes! Jacaranda can reach 50 to 60 feet tall in central Florida.

12. My dear DawgHouse!
I've only seen them here in SoCal....they came from South Africa, I believe!

They do get quite large, but they have gorgeous flowers that look rather misty from a distance.....

Whole blocks of them exist here, lining the streets, and they are grand to see that way!

I'm glad you like these!

14. It's so beautiful.
That color of purple was my friend Tomo's favorite. She used to wear a band on her wrist in that color...

Sorry. Everything I see is reminding me of her.

Great pictures! :hi:

Of course everything you see for now will remind you of your lost friend...

That is a very normal response to loss, especially one as final as death.....

I've been there myself, my dear girl.....

And thank you for coming by!

Glad you like my pics!

How nice to see you tonight!

Glad you like my pics....didn't have to travel far to take these.....

Just out my sliding glass door and over about 15 feet!

I don't believe there is any fragrance...or if there is, it is faint!

21. Jacaranda trees are one of my favorites!
You are so fortunate to be able to grow them in your area...but, then again, just about anything (short of a Nordic Pine) grows well there. Thank you for sharing!

22. My dear KC2!
I had not noticed them until we moved onto this street back in 1972....

There are several nearby, big mature ones, full of blossoms in the spring and into the summer......

When we built our house, I realized that I too could have one...

So we bought one, and now it's flourishing!

Thanks for coming by tonight......

23. Wonderfull tree. I wish they did better here in Phoenix. They seem
to be a completely different tree in what I suppose is SoCal. They look good for it seems a couple of years, then go into decline.

Yes, I live in SoCal......and the trees really thrive here!

They will live for decades, even....

I wonder what happens in Phoenix.....maybe it's too hot and dry?

Thanks for coming by!

Thank you! It is a gorgeous tree when full-grown.....

It is native to Brazil, and needs heat and sun to flourish....

My gardening book does not mention any scent, and I didn't detect any.....

So, probably not.....

I'm so glad you like my pics!

This tree is young yet, and will be much prettier as it matures.....

The truly magnificent trees are 20-30 years old!

I want to live long enough to see this one get that old!

Thanks for coming by tonight!

36. So THAT'S what
they're called!

That's the trees with the purple flowers that are like, everywhere...right?

My friend and I have been calling them "The Lilac Tree" because we had no idea what they were and well, the flowers are basically the color of a lilac. (yes, we do know lilacs are bushes) ;)

So pretty! Thanks!

Yes indeed, this is what they're called!

And yes, LA has lots of them, and they're wonderful at this time of year!

Some neighborhoods have them lining the streets, and this makes for an incredible display......

Glad I could clear up your mystery tree for you!

And I'm so pleased you like my pics!
